I was a long-time Atkins veteran before I started lifting, as far back as 1994. IMO, without a high percentage of fat (55-65%), you burn protein as your energy source and lose a lot of muscle. Have you thought about a CKD type of approach instead?
There was a protein bar I found that was low in carbs. I'll post if I can remember the name.
