All good advice here. I started doing speed deads with chains at about 50% of 1 RM several months ago. I do 10 sets of 3 reps and actually superset them with sets of shrugs (10 reps). I have found that it not only helps with explosiveness but form as well. Working with a lower weight for speed helps to develop the concentration factor in good form. We all know how to deadlift with great form but don't always do it, right? IMO, deads are one of the most difficult lifts to perfect.
Other benefits of speed deads - cardio. No more than a minute or 90 seconds between sets. Good for endurance.
