Good stuff man, I'll have to check it out. I like reading literature like that.

Also have a look into Supertraining by Mel Siff. Another great addition BI pointed me to.

My trainer says Kelly Starrett is a genius, and the core knowledge and basic theories being promoted in books like the Supple Leopard, are excellent, but Dr. Starrett loses touch with reality and just goes too far with some of his extrapolations and more extreme theories.

I have the book and have enjoyed it, but need to take the time to read it carefully. If you are interested, I might be up for making a study of it and going over it with you, to help me understand better. Let me know if that is something you'd be willing to do, bud.

Sounds good. It'll be a long while before I get through the chunk of it myself.

I'd expect him to lose touch to some degree. Just hope it is on the minimal side.

Bench Press
220 x 5, 240 x 5, 265 x 5, 285 x 5, 310 x 3

Meadows Row
90 x 10, 90 x 20, 100 x 20, 100 x 10

All lifts seem to be back to scratch bar hip hinging movements. Going to ease on these until I can deadlift 440 comfortable before moving on from recovery phase to a ramping phase where I will turn up the volume and begin to add in some speed work. Hip/lower back has been great. Zero pain and after my basketball game on Thursday night my ankles seem to be holding up. Bodyweight has shot up 10 lbs and I am sitting close to 250 at the moment. Waist has sucked in a little and I am feeling very mobile again.

Next week will be a major change up in exercise programming. Will be moving toward the next training phase which should only be a few weeks out provided my hip holds up as it has the past 3 weeks. Another bump in the road will be that I may be going in for surgery on the finger I put the drill through. As the nail has grown it is starting to cut into the flesh causing flare ups and a nasty little infection. Will be requesting full removal of the nail if my doctor can't save the full nail.

Dips

Very quick session. Rack chins are much easier on my elbows.

rack chins are actually more effective than I expected in helping build wider lats for me. Now I swear by them

This is the first time I have done these and I think these will be a staple. I'd love to try these with a thick bar. My parents have a few lying around on their property so I might grab a 2 inch steel pipe and use that.

Forgive me guys. What are rack chins?

Place your feet up on a bench or something similar and pull yourself up to the bar while in a pull up position. You are essentially reducing the load and you get more stability throughout the movement which provides a more focused contraction.

Box Squat
220 x 5, 265 x 5, 310 x 5, 330 x 2, 350 x 2, 365 x 2

Had a long drive the day before which funkied up my hip a little. Got this nice little session in and nailed 170kg (365 lbs) easy for a double. Deadlifts will be in the mix next session.

Did you start doing mobility work for your hip?
