A quick update.
Saw the liver specialist MD (finally) recently. He told me he has seen the flip-flop on the test before. He confirmed most adults are at 0, and anything above that can indicate an abnormality. HOWEVER....he said that he's never concerned about that particular test unless the reading is approaching 200, and mine has never been more than 20. He also said the testing isn't very good, and there are a fair number of false positives. He added that a reading of 20 *may* indicate the presence of fatty liver, but without a liver biopsy, impossible to tell. He wouldn't even remotely consider a liver biopsy for me. I've had a couple of liver ultrasounds which were normal, but he also says that test, while better than nothing, isn't particularly accurate. All of my other liver tests are normal. He wants liver panel retests every 6 months, and doesn't want to see me again for a year.
