Mumlaa, for every gram of carbohydrate you consume your body stores 3-4grams of water. 300 extra grams of carbohydrate = 900g - 1200 g of extra water. So naturally when you add carbs your weight is going to go up. Quit paying so much attention to what the scales say and pay more attention to what you look like. You might also get a cheap skin fold caliper and do bodyfat measurements. How much body fat you have on you is a much better idea of what is going on. Remember too, muscle is much more dense than fat. So if you add 1lb of muscle you will not look the same as 1lbs of fat. But the scales will not know the difference.

i measured skin fold caliper its says i am 8-9% bf lol i dont think this is accurate i will post photos later. thanks btw, but what weight was that? so it was glycogen? as i went from 100-150g carbs to 350-400g carbs a day? from cut to lean bulk? as i see from my physicue i didn`t gained any fat if i see properly i will post photos later thank you!

So if you are consistent in how you do the reading with the caliper, you are probably 8-9% BF. To get more accurate you need to do a DEXA scan.

"i went from 100-150g carbs to 350-400g carbs a day" .......so that is an addition of around 250g of carbs/d = 750 - 1000g or water. 453g of water = 1lb. As you can see that addition of carbs can cause the body to store quite a lot of water in pounds. Glycogen draws in water to be stored. Most likely you did not gain fat, you just simply dropped water when youu cut. So skin fold reading when you do a bulk and then another one after you cut and see from each period if you gained or lost muscle. Your skin fold reading will also be higher with more carbs because a lot of that water is stored sub-q.

Like Big Tex said, water retention from glycogen storage. Could also have some water retention just from increased inflammation. Food, especially in a surplus, will have an inflammatory response.

Remember a pound of fat is roughly 3500 calories. Going 300-400 calories a day over maintenance doesn't even equal a pound of fat a week and that is if ALL of it went towards fat, which it wouldn't if you are training.

You really should hire a coach with a lot of the questions you have.

Could also be you are 17 years old and having metabolism swings. I remember I could eat 5 hamburgers at a time and not gain weight. If you experience fast fluctuations though then I have to agree with the above and say it is water related

When you start eating more, especially carbs, your body holds onto more water - that can easily explain part of the weight gain. Also, if you’re training hard and consistently, some of that could be muscle too. 2.8kg in 2 weeks sounds a bit fast, but not crazy, especially at the beginning.

Try increasing carbs to 250g per day instead of 350-400g per day. Ride that out a few weeks and see how you feel. Adding the additional 100g of carbs (from what you had prior) is an extra 400kcal per day. As noted, you gained water weight and glycogen levels in that short period. You can increase it further as needed.

The weight gain is likely due to water retention from increased carb intake, as carbs store glycogen and water. At 17, your metabolism might also cause quicker fluctuations. Focus more on how you look and your body fat percentage rather than the scale. If you’re not gaining fat visually, it’s mostly water weight. Try adjusting carbs slightly and monitor your progress.
