Does my bicep hurt after front squatting ? I'm a sissy and use straps to hold the bar. Wtf ?
To lay it out there at this point I'm not really interested in holding the bar in true oly fashion. I front squat for quad strength .

Squeezing the straps causes quite a bit of bicep contraction..

Is it painful, or is it pumped? If it's painful, it might be an issue of flexibility/mobility or even tendonitis as well.

Try warming up your biceps for a moment with light weight, then do some stretching, prior to the squatting and see if that helps. You might even go as far as far as trying Voodoo floss from Rogue Fitness to help work out the bugs in your elbow/bicep tie in

Do you load and unload the weights yourself?

I noticed this same thing a few years ago.I had sore biceps after front squatting and they felt like I had done a workout for them.I used the crossover grip...if that`s what it`s called..but anyway I had my son watch my form and my elbows were coming down way too low during the squat.This...I think was causing me to really flex my biceps to keep the bar in place. After I consciously tried keeping my elbows up high the bicep soreness went away.

It could be an isometric thing from squeezing them to keep tight. Or it could be from the tie-in in the shoulder.

Either way, if it bothers you, you could always just substitute high bar olympic squats or pause squats.

Widen your grip and it'll help. It'll also make it easier to stay upright and perhaps even let you ditch the straps.
