I was getting dizzy for a few weeks and didn't know why. I was told I wasn't eating enough steaks, pork chops etc. So I started eating better and it went away for a while. So I started lifting again a couple days ago, and today is my legs day. The first squat I did I got dizzy. I'm trying to work through it but I'm still getting dizzy. Has this happened to any of you? Is this more than just my diet? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Two things come to mind quickly;
Hydration
Blood pressure
And then when's the last time you had blood work?
Aniemia?

I don't know how many glasses of water I drink, but it's a few. So I think I'm drinking enough.

My blood pressure (when I was checking it) was at the highest was 138/98, and the lowest was 118/65. But that's been over a year ago. I'll waiting a little while (I just finished my squats, leg curls and calf raises), and I'll check my blood pressure again.

I hate seeing a doctor for everything. They cost so damned much these days. Maybe I'll have to see a doctor one of these days.

What sucks is, there isn't a gym around here and all my stuff is in my (small) back bedroom. So I don't have the luxury of all the machines and a lifting partner. I do have my own blood pressure machine though, so I don't have to go anywhere to check that.

I'm approaching this more like a detective than a doctor . . . . .

Looking at the timeline, you had inexplicable dizziness, you ate better, you felt better for a while, you started lifting again, you began your comeback with SQUATS, you felt dizzy again, is that it?

This detective prescribes seeing a doctor. Might be serious, might not be, but just the symptom makes life dangerous for someone trying to do stuff with Iron without hurting himself, or . . . . . driving.

Simple and cheap experiment, eat a handful of liver tabs and drink half a gallon of water pre workout.
Another thought, was it on first rep or deeper not set of squats, how's your breathing?

It was on my first squat.

I don't make a bunch noises like some, but I do exhale on the way up when I squat.

I'll try the liver tabs and water as soon as I can get to the store.

If that stuff doesn't work for me I'll probably see a doctor.

Side note: I've had Bells palsy since May of 2014. I don't like driving because I have to wear an eye patch over my right eye. The right side of my face is paralyzed which means I can't blink my right eye. With the eye patch on, my peripheral vision isn't so good because it sticks out so far.

Thanks for the advise guys.

Don't have any good doctors around here. Last winter I cut my index finger pretty bad, the dumbass didn't want to give me stitches! It looks like shit now. I saw another doctor and a specialist later, and they both didn't know why he didn't give me stitches. I saw them because I thought it got infected, it was still red after three months. It's not infected but I can't bend it like I could any of my other fingers. The only good hospital is about an hour and a half away. And they want me to get a referral from this hospital!

Just another thought....
I was shopping with a close friend, who luckily happens to be a home caretaker/nurse. Suddenly as I stood in line, I felt dizzy and my right eye went blurry. I had to lean on my basket to prevent falling. My friend suggested that it either my blood pressure or low blood sugar (I'm not nor ever was diabetic). After paying for my stuff, I ate a handful of jelly beans and quickly recouperated.

Shoot for a gallon of water per day and keep an eye on your blood sugar levels. Do you keep a carb source readily available?

It makes sense to check your blood pressure more than once daily to get an idea of your baseline. Blood pressure is a silent killer, especially for us in this weight game.

Dizzy while lifting?

Your pushing ur bp too high. Get your resting bp under control . It's goid that your pushing your self to that level. Never stop that. That's the key to all weight training. Pushing yourself to the edge. However, you can be healthy while doing it. Get your bp and likely bf % in line. You'll feel better.
But never
Ever
Turn the energy down.
