What exercise do you use to start your chest workout? I've always started with flat bench but I'm wondering what kind of success people have with other exercises. I want to be sure I get maximum benefit from my chest workouts and I'm interested in what others are doing and why.
I like to do Progressive (light to moderate) Cross-Bench Dumbbell Pullovers as a warm-up/pre-exhaust. Occasionally, I'll do Machine Flyes in place of the Pullovers if the benches are crowded.
Always two light warm up sets. No more than half the amount in weight of my first working set. I'm a dumbbell guy so alternating flat and inclines to start each week. Which ever I start with is going to be the movement I put up the heaviest weight with. This keeps me gaining in both upper or lower. Some days I do only flys and go heavier than I could if I incorporated them as a fine tuning excessive at the end. Never used cross bench to warm up but I'm gonna give it a go. Thanks
