What's New?

What’s the ONE thing that keeps you training?

I continue to better myself and my health, hopefully. To allow me to see my children and grandchildren grow … maybe even my great grandchildren

Great thread. I still train for many of the same reasons as many have mentioned. Vanity to necessity and all in between. Discipline is what gets me there most days. I will be 50 in December and am down to lifting 3 days a week and have become the king of the machines, chasing pumps, stretching etc. For the last 5 years I have been grappling 3-4 days a week. I find that to be more enjoyable than lifting, so I put more time there. like many have mentioned, I get a feeling of pride when people are shocked at my age. Makes a fella feel good. I take way less gear than ever and way fewer compounds than ever. I have a better relationship with food after 40 years of doing it terribly... LOL. Current stats are 6'0 255 lbs bf is a pure guess 18-20%, highest weight ever 286.... I was fluffy. I'm rambling, love the thread. Thanks to the OP for starting it. Thanks to all that have shared their reasons why. If you're in the path of the hurricane, stay safe!

Keeps the entry level bipolar at bay, things you reflect on and uncover after a high-conflict divorce.... o_O

Most of us have been lifting as a lifestyle for many years. What’s the one thing, above all else, that keeps you coming back, in spite of injuries, work, distractions, etc.?
I know haven't been weightlifting for that long, only a little over a year. But what makes me want to keep coming back even though this year has been tough at times is my hope.

Ever since I was very little, I known I want to compete in professional bodybuilding. And right now, even though I'm not that big and my genetics could be a bit better, but I find weightlifting very fun and I have hope I can reach it one day. I'm pretty fucking worried that I'm going to fail, but a part of me doesn't want to accept defeat. I feel like I'm not growing all that much, but I want to keep trying!

That's what keeps me going, hope.

To be stronger for Jiu-Jitsu and these days for longevity. My wife and I now have custody of my nephew who is 3 so I have to stay fit to be able to spend time with him.
