What's New?

What’s the ONE thing that keeps you training?

Most of us have been lifting as a lifestyle for many years. What’s the one thing, above all else, that keeps you coming back, in spite of injuries, work, distractions, etc.?

Every time I look in the mirror, I see something that I can improve (usually see a truckload of such things, LOL)

Besides, in every area of your life, if you're not moving forward, you're going backward.

I honestly think I would be lost without the gym. Dieting, competing, coaching, etc... are not as important to me. I care, but not as much as I do about training. I could be a fat meat head who keeps to himself in the gym and I would be fine, as long as I was slinging weight around.

It's all I have. Without this , i'm just some old guy without a purpose and I go back to staring out the window waiting.

The aches , the pains , the grinding lets me know I'm alive , it makes me happy and thankful.

After I had the stroke I never thought I would be able to do this again. God gave me another chance to do what I love , it would be arrogant and just plain stupid to receive a gift like this and not put it to good use.

Seeing parents that don't run or do anything active with their kids.

I take great pride in knowing (teenagers now) my nieces and nephews call me and ask to hang out because they genuinely want to and it all started from when they were small and I met them on their level no matter what sport or topic in school. They had practice, I'd practice with them on their free time. There will be a day when they have their own kids, I plan on doing the same with their kids.

I still have fun lifting weights after all these years. I feel so much better when I'm focused and lifting. I actually think it helps me get out some internal anger... my wife says it is my therapy.

I don't enjoy the food or the cardio, but lifting is still fun.

Define “fat” for a meathead…I’m feeling awfully self conscious.

My one reason is results. If I don’t go, the results are obvious. If I do go and I work hard, the results are obvious.

Sex. Plain and simple. I want to look like something women want to fuck and I expect my wife to do the same for me. At 53, if I get complacent the younger males in the pride will challenge me and banish me to die alone on the savanna.
