I thought I needed new glasses as my vision is horrible. The gal checked my eyes out for my new script and said it has not changed sir.

I said "Well I cannot see, so it has to have changed"

Doc came in, looked at my eyes...CATARACTS!

That is an old person malady! I never really felt old until now as all my friends who are my age are out of shape, weak and have old person diseases. Not me, fit and strong.

It was like getting hit by the reality truck.

I just realized, I am that old grumpy man that I used to make fun of as a teen that thought he was still 25.

I guess I need to get a cane, stop racing motorcycles and boxing, get a script for viagra and get fat and lazy. NOPE!

When did you realize or what caused you to see yourself as an old fart?

I used to laugh at those big older 40 something dudes taking 40 minutes to warm up and stretch. Now at 50 plus I realize I am that dude.

I don't know when. I forgot. Memory going. I did a little light judo and heavy bag the other day and my knee is yelling at me right now. no question, I got old at some point. But, grandchildren are nice.

There were some high school kids in Walmart parking lot about about a year ago, who were trying to put a big 70" TV into the back of their truck. I overheard one of them tell another douchebag, "ask that old man if he can help us."

Me: There are like 3 of you elementary kids who can't even lift it?"

So I go help them, and it felt like a gdamn feather I could have done it myself if it wasn't so wide and an awkward grip.

Then me: Are you kids here with your dads? How old are you guys, 6 or 7th grade?

Them: No, we are seniors in high school.

Me: You guys sure are much smaller these days.


On another note, I have not been flirted with in a long ass time. I'm starting to get desperate I swear I live in a small town where everybody has married their cousins, brothers, or sisters from Mexico...and had multiple kids. I need to get out more

I had cataract extraction surgery in both eyes last year.
I paid for the upgraded lenses. Worth the money for me.

My wife had both done and said exactly what you said right there. The procedure was fast and not too painful, but the funny thing is when the light hits my wifes eyes she looks like a replicant from Blade Runner.

Get the surgery now and have better quality of life.

Getting old sucks, easy to put fat on, tuff to loose it. Takes forever to get results. You have to warm up to do anything in life. The best thing is staying active!
