Do we have any WASR AK gurus here? I found one that is almost too good to pass up but I’ve got one concern with it.

I don't know much about the brand, but know a lot about AK's having been shot at with them over and over again. Haha.

In all seriousness, it is extremely hard to fuck up an AK. We would encounter some pretty questionable builds in Iraq and Afghanistan that looked like there were built in a Mattel sweatshop by some 6 year olds. They fired just fine. To me, it really comes down to the price. I probably wouldn't pay more than $500 for an AK.

Please lmk where to get an AK for $500 or less that is decent. I must be looking in the wrong places.

The one I found is a new WASR 10 imported by Century. One of the things Century does besides adding the 922r parts is make the mag well accept 30 round magazines. The one I found is about $200 cheaper than most but I think the place that has it is clueless why the mag well is different than the other 3 or 4 he has on hand. I’m just curious if Century will really fix this under their one year warranty. Of course I called them & was told yes but the guy that answered my call wasn’t very knowledgeable

. I've also heard it’s easy to do it yourself but it’s also easy to mess it up.

I have an AK M85 PAP, converted to 5.56 and it accepts AR15 mags as well. Even with the conversion it always goes bang. The WASR is much better than many AKs. If you can get it for a descent price go for it. I check gun broker for like guns then take $50-75 off the price and figure that is pretty good.

Check and see if a 30 round mag will fit in it. Is the mag well more narrow?

I have the KS-12t which is the shotgun version of an AK. It’s my favorite gun.
Semi auto with 10 round clip.
I have the drum but they just are not reliable so I never use it.

They did try a double stack mag the last time I was there. Yes it’s too narrow to go in. The same mag went into 2 otherWASR’s they had on hand.

I haven't looked at prices in a while, but just looked. Wow! I bought my Century AK off Sportsmansguide 3 years ago for $475. Tough times.

Yeah sleepy joe drove prices up trying to ban everything. It’s crazy how much they cost now. I ended up buying one today. It’s the single stack but I’m sure I can change that one way or another. The price was just too good. I walked in with cash & the price got even better. Lol

So, it might be cheaper as it has NOT been converted to accept the double stack 30 rd mags. You can get the small Romanian 10 rd mags they work fine as they are thinner. I would want the 30 if I had an AK.

PSA makes a great rifle from the reviews. Check it out.

I have 4 AK's, one on 556. All have ALG triggers, Barwarus rails, Magpul stocks, lights and Vortex rede dot. I like 30 cal. AR's have their place, but 30 cal coming out of the right carbine is better.

This will probably be my one & only AK. I’ve got many AR’s in various calibers, AR 10’s, 15’s, pistols & rifles. I’ve actually built a couple (which isn’t hard to do). I just like the AR’s better, I know more about them & im much more familiar with them.
