Just got back from a follow up visit with surgeon regarding my back. He gave me the ok to return to work and to exercise. No jogging or heavy pulling. I will be biking quite a bit as long as the snow holds off. Low impact activities only. I'm thinking I will be ok working chest, arms and shoulders. I'm looking for suggestions here, it's been two months with no lifting and I need to get a routine set up that I can handle

Did you get any back excercises? If the protrusion is going outwards, try planking on your stomach, it was one of my PT things to try and squeeze the disk back. I stil do them occasionally when my back gives me problems.

Surgeon said biking or swimming, no running. I will bike till the snow gets too deep, the lake a little too cold for me now, haha

Def agree with Fury, swim 5.0, I have 4 bulging discs and I dont bike or run and work out religious on form over weight. All cardio is low\no impact, I know its ghey but for me it's elipticals, swimming and last on the list stationary bikes.
Good Luck with the long road to recovery, take your time
