They doing any pre-surgical testing? Anesthesia? Blood work? I can get you a round about fee on just the procedure but depending on what part of the country you are in the fee can be all over the place. And by that I mean in the thousands different.

Come to Canada AJ...I'll adopt you and it will be free. But you still have to shovel my driveway while surgery is pending.

Obviously I can't provide any direction for you here so I thought I'd just be a smartass.

Good to hear you're finally looking into getting it fixed...Hope it works out for you!

One of my bros had laproscopic repair with a mesh closure. His cost was 3500 with no ins. He called around to several surgeons and inquired about the procedure, telling them that he would be paying out of pocket. Most were more than willing to work with him on cost. The surgery was in Texas.

I have heard of other people doing this as well....Seems like you can haggle the cost of medical procedures these days...

Yep, particularly when many people are without insurance these days, whether from their employers cutting back or dropping insurance entirely

bro I had the surgery a little over a year ago. Made an incision just below my navel and stitched a small tear. I have insurance as well and had a zero deductible based on my primary physician giving me a referal to have the surgery. recently my deductibles were all adjusted so not quite sure what would be covered if it happened today.

The surgery was easy (outpatient). I was pretty uncomfortable for 3 days post surgery so I would have a discussion with your doc about what pain med he would prescribe for you... ...recovery was 4 weeks with no weight training.

Basically the same experience with me. I had this surgery back in 1996. I did have insurance as well, but had to pay my deductible because it had not been met for the year. I think it was maybe 200 back then? I remember trying to sit up right after I woke up, lordy that hurt. 4 weeks no training and then ease back into things. It felt real tight for a while, but haven't had a problem since. Doc told me it would never tear there again, maybe somewhere else, but not there. Nowadays the rest of my body is falling apart...lol.
