I had this surgery (umbilical) this past year. I have a very high deductible, so I had to pay for the entire thing myself. My doc told me the traditional method was cheaper and more effective than the laproscopic (sp?), and since it's at the belly button, I wouldn't be able to see any scar.
The total cost was just a little less than $5K. It included insertion of the mesh. There were no complications, but I couldn't do any exercise for 2 weeks, and then very light exercise for 4-6 weeks. Haven't had any problems over the past 9 months.
