Very helpful. Thanks. I agree. I worked as a chip designer decades ago, and while we designed the chip in the US, and fabbed the chip in the US (at that time), packaging and test was done in MX, TW and Philippines even back then. I was pretty impressed with the engineers in MX. I traveled down there and worked with them directly a number of times on some special projects where heat transfer was a big issue, and those guys were both smart and creative. Good dudes.

I know that ASML (equipment) does all the next gen stepper and EUV lithography equipment, does Applied Materials still design/manufacture a lot of the implantation equipment in the US or is that overseas?

Isn't most still in the US? With smaller operations in Singapore, and Israel? Not sure how there workflow is broken down? Seems like some of what is done there could be done here. Since it is R&D focused. Not sure though.

Putin won't live forever. The US always has to have a boogie man or bad guy.
The world would truly be a better place if we would have continued to embrace Russia in the 1990s after the collapse. We Clinton and the Bushes were quite friendly with Russia during that time and even gave them billions in loans.
Right now the US and the rest of the free world is toast and will fall under the alliance of China Russia NK and all the terrorist muslin nations.
Spot on!

No it was from Obama/Biden/European globalists trying to choke Russia to death with sanctions and plugging billions into Ukraine to kill Russians and mother fuckers giving the ok for Abraham Zelinsky to strike targets in Russia sabotage their pipelines and terror attacks in Russia. US is toast in 20 minutes if China Russia and NK decide to wage war. Complete global destruction in an hour. Democrats and war mongering Republicans created this mess and nobody including Trump can stop it now.
Russia should be choked out of existence. For decades now. Burnt to the ground , paved over and under a Walmart.

I've always been surprised to hear that a company was discouraged from building a semiconductor fabrication plant in the U.S. Sure, U.S. labor is more expensive than labor in China, or Taiwan, or Vietnam, but I'd think that the total cost in every single semiconductor wafer that comes out of the fab is overwhelmingly dominated by fabrication costs and not labor. That is, if the fab costs $25B to build and outfit, the cost of any given wafer coming out of the fab is dominated by the cost of the facility and equipment, and the cost of labor is very small.

So, for example, if the total cost of a wafer is only 5% labor (I'm making this up, I have no idea what it is), then cutting your labor cost in half by building in China is not a significant cost savings. I'm wondering if one of the bigger issues was all the environmental rules and regs in building the plant and then running it. That might have been what drove manufacturing elsewhere.
Plus by and large, today’s typical American workforce is low skill, low quality / mediocre at best.

Good lord don't let a tax refund check be late or the world will end. I get a minimal refund every year due to my wife's IRA contribution because everytime I set it to my bank account I have to chase and fight the IRS for that $ that doesn't show up for months vs a check that's in the mailbox 2 weeks after filing.
I had to pay $14 bucks in income tax a few years ago, one day a couple months later we were driving and wifey handed me a $20 at a stoplight, I said "what is this for?" she said it is so you will SHUT UP about having to pay $14 in income tax last year!...LMAO I had to laugh at myself for that one.
All these morons bitching about Trump and Elon in the media will be the first ones at payday loans getting an advance if they ever do announce a paltry 5k DOGE check.........we have all seen it before.
Remember them going nutso over the "stimulus" checks? Sheesh

Form a trust, put your LLC's in a trust, own NOTHING in your personal name, real estate, cars, jewelry, clothes, watches, vacations, meals, everything is in a video or a pic gallery, all needed to make $$$$ has stood up against audits.
Learned from a guy that supplies the corn syrup to Coca cola and Pepsi.
Social media is KING these days.
Tax code, follow the laws that THEY have made to benefit themselves.

Maybe with nobody at the IRS things will be more lax.

I run everything through my S-Corp LLC. Dinners, vacations, truck, home (maintain an office) and all home expenses. My accountant is able to justify everything it seems. Kind of depends though how big you are. How much attention you get. I'm small fry, we barely touched 1 million gross last year. My friend's company is doing around 20 million a year. He attracts attention. Me, not so much. Maybe in a couple of years I'll worry more.

He still managed to put his Hennessey Raptor under the business. Hahaha... Just a simple work vehicle as far as the IRS knows.

For those of you that have X - I’m seeing more frequent mention by Trumpies having concerns about him. Just interesting to read through the comments.

For those without X, this was the post from the link. I’m sorry it doesn’t copy paste in a good format, so the points are all bunched together.

Here’s the thing… I’m not just “complaining” about or “bashing” Trump. I’m not “turning on Trump” either, but it appears that Trump may be turning on US. BIGLY.
This Trump is NOT the same Trump that I recognize from 2016, or even 2020. There are some FUNDAMENTAL differences that I see more and more each day. I know I am FAR from being the only one seeing it. It’s not only the CRAZY Lindsey Graham endorsement from today… I have pointed out a number of SERIOUS red flags coming from the second Trump Administration over the past several months, since even before Trump was inaugurated… - The inauguration itself felt like a funeral, more than a celebration. - The complete obsession with taking over Canada and Greenland, which was NOT at all present on the campaign trail. A direct parallel to the decades old North American Union plan. - The complete and total infiltration of tech bros/Palantir/PayPal Mafia (Peter Thiel) into Trump’s innner circle. Even JD Vance himself is the mentee of Peter Thiel, who is a proponent of “young blood”. - On the first real day of Trump’s admin, he shamelessly brought Larry Ellison and Sam Altman into the White House and pledged to invest in AI infrastructure to the tune of $500 MILLION over the next four years. Not to mention supporting mRNA “cancer vaccines” which is unbelievably tone deaf, and a HUGE smack in the face to the many people who have been injured, maimed, and killed because of the COVID jab. - Elon Musk, a full blown transhumanist, advocate for Universal Basic Income, and carbon taxes, plastered to Trump’s side everywhere he goes. DOGE is a smoke screen for setting up AI Governance. - Trump endorsed Dr. Susan Monarez, a DARPA stooge and transhumanist who was supposedly “handpicked” by RFK Jr. to be CDC Director. The complete and total OPPOSITE of everything that “MAHA” stands for. A BRUTAL BETRAYAL to millions who helped Trump cross the finish line in the election. - Trump did a 180 on getting rid of all income taxes, instead making it only people who make less than $150k. No word about getting rid of the IRS either. - Many of Trump’s cabinet picks being either inept, or rife with inaction. Pam Bondi is the perfect example of this, Michael Waltz is another. - Trump and Melania pumping up meme coins that then crashed hard, while they made BILLIONS. - The unbelievably crass and gross Gaza video shared by Trump. - Trump wanting to take over Gaza. - Trump warmongering on behalf of Israel and threatening war with Iran. - This fiasco with the Signal messages. I could go on, and on…There really is that many. So, for all of the seemingly good things that Trump is doing, it’s like every other day there is a MAJOR red flag that keeps me from celebrating it and constantly keeps me questioning Trump’s motives. It really makes me sad, and frustrated. I put my ALL into supporting Trump for close to 10 years. I voted for him 3 times proudly, was one of his loudest cheerleaders, and it seems like he has turned on America First, and in many ways has resigned to furthering the NWO agenda. Either willingly, or because they were able to capture him with some bullets. This is what it comes down to… Trump is either completely CAPTURED, or he is showing us his TRUE colors, as much as that pains me to say. There really is NO in between.

Those tech-bro anarcho-capitalist types control Trump now. No more "populist" Trump working for the working man. Trump has different owners this time around.

Some countries that are considering nuclear weapons. These countries are in different stages in the process. Some countries are considering nukes. Some are starting the process of building nukes. Some have no native nuclear program and some are able to build nuclear weapons within a year and have them ready to deploy. Source: Zeihan on Geopolitics

it is quicker and easier to build nuclear weapons then build up an army, build an aircraft carrier, etc. So it is the preferable option for countries being abandoned by their most powerful ally.

South Korea: Realizing that they are about to be abandoned by the US, they are in the process of debating whether or not to build nukes. South Korea could put together a nuclear program in a year.

Poland: Realizing that they are about to be abandoned by the US, they are in the process of debating whether or not to build nukes. 3 to 9 months off from building a deliverable nuke.

Germany: Germany could put together nuclear weapons within a months. They have the material and the technology.

Sweden: Is beginning discussions on arming up with nuclear weapons. They could have deliverable weapons within weeks.

Ukraine: Ukraine was the Soviet Union's manufacturing and technology location for building nukes. They have everything they need to start and within months to a year could have deliverable nuclear weapons.

Romania: Has a nuclear industry and the knowhow to build nuclear weapons. They are now in internal discussions whether or not to proceed now that the US is no longer an ally. They could easily produce a device, but a deliverable weapon would take a year.

Japan: Realizing that the Americans are about to abandon them, Japan is now beginning discussions on building nuclear weapons. They clearly have everything they need to proceed. Technology, materials, experience.

Perhaps the world will be safer if everybody is pointing nuclear weapons at everyone else? :)
