I understand that I'm not under any disillusion but what I'm saying is what are they spying on? That's my point is companies here already track us, follow us, listen to us, etc etc

Now yes I understand it's Chinese government versus US government but honestly is there a difference now? Or being spied on and told what to do we have no freedoms or we're losing all our freedoms quickly.

Do they think the Chinese government is going to overtake us because Americans are stupid and put tide pods in their mouths and then recorded and posted online? What is the end game on the Chinese government side for stupid citizens that live on this app
TikTok is not just a social media platform. It's actual malware. It's a keylogger and a data logger. It does these things outside of use of the application.

The fact that it's allowed on any of the app stores is an indictment on the CCP influence on both Google and Apple as those things are against the policies to be allowed in either of their stores.

I think a full ban on all Chinese software and heavy restrictions on Chinese manufacturing should have been done decades ago.

Opening up trade with China is possibly the worst mistake in American history.

All Chinese companies are infiltrated by CCP policies to the benefit of the party. I refuse to buy anything made in China...use the Cultivate add-on to know where things are made and find cheaper alternatives to "made in China" such as Vietnam and India.

Let's be real here. The ban has little to do with the govt concern for security. FB, IG, Twitter, Google, etc collects all of the same data and sells it to China. It has more to be do with the fact that TT is the absolutely most effective sharing platform in history. You can't completely control a narrative and agenda with a 'town center' like TT in operation.

I actually appreciate tik tok they put a huge dent in fake book insta sham and gaggle. I don't have any social media but have taken a lot of pleasure seeing the other platforms drop tens of thousands of jobs and millions of users.
Plus tik tok is pretty good at enforcing Darwins law.....lol

Really, it's the donors. Those social media billionaires all donate to the politicians. Sure, China gives some of the politicians money too (McConnel, China Joe, etc.), but the locals want their market share back. It's just like SVB. First FDIC said only $250k insured. Then, when the big donors who had accounts there were beyond $250k, cried to their money grabbers...nobody loses anything. 97% of SVB accounts were over $250k.

Bytedance Tiktoks parent company is required by the chinese govt to give them access to every thing. While that might not seem like a big deal it gives them broad analytics on times people are active , good bought , services used , networking possiblities. As well as all the other fake news , ai pics and nonsense they put out.

Tik Tok traffic already goes through an IBM firewall ever since Trump tried to ban it. I am not in support of banning it. It is the only non US govt controlled information sharing platform. There is a lot of useless stuff posted for entertainment value but there is also a lot of information that would never be seen or heard without TT. That is the very reason they want it banned or to have full control. There are over 5 million US online businesses on TT. Yet another reason the lobbyists (Zuckerberg) want it banned. This is an attack on free speech and free market. The same folks that cry "freedom, patriot, and Merica" are calling for a ban because, well "Chin-ah". This will open the door for broader govt control of all apps in the future. Watch what you wish for folks.

To add, what's really scary is the people that are pressing the CEO of TT at this hearing have absolutely no understanding of basic technology let alone the complexities involved in this scenario. These are not the people I want making decisions about the future of Internet communications.
