Not so much here but I am tired of reading guys on a bulk diet at 5,000 cals. I have even read a one or two 6k bulk diets.

Now I know there's many different size people out there but for shits and giggles, lets go down the middle of the road with the math. A 5'-10, 220 lb male with an average activity level needs to be at about 3,000 cal/day. Now he wants to bulk so he adds in 500 more cals a day since that's the number they use for weight loss, he figures he needs that for weight gain. Problem is that 500 cals is for fat loss, not muscle gain. So he bumps it to 3,500 cals. The only way you need to be taking in 5,000 cals a day on a bulk is if you're 6'-2" 400 lbs and want to bulk. Good chance if that's you, you need a cut, not a bulk!

And when I see a post about a year later from the same dude asking "How do I lose this excess fat?" I really lose my shit. How about don't put it on in the first place?

There’s always those people that think going to the extreme is the best way to do anything. Look at the dosage that some guys take & tell others to take. I’ll pass but thanks anyway. It’s in pretty much everything.

Unless extremely active and on some serious thermogens plus juice and GH I agree . Every time I exceeded 4000 cals a day I would smooth out and start gaining fat even on tren and test and GH . And this covers me bulking up over 5 years from 270 to 310. My sweet spot always seemed to be 3700 to 4000. At 5000 a day man was I big but bloated and smooth. Now I am on 3500 a day at 280 and really need to go lower based on age and reduced activities. I did some stupid things in my day when blasting like eating 400 plus grams of protein and tons of complex carbs.

I never make large increases or decreases when it comes to dieting. I prefer slow steady adjustments over time. I am 202 lbs and my maintenance calories are right around 3500 (unless on tren/parabolan then it is around 4100). If I start a cut or bulk, I usually start with a 10% increase or decrease for the first couple weeks and see how it goes. I will keep it like this until my progress slows then add/decrease by 100-150 calories.

I guess it really depends on calorie burn. To me 6000 calories doesn't sound like much. But my maintenance calories have typically been around 5000 or more per day. In the last two years with injuries, surgeries and sitting behind a computer 12 hours or more per day my calorie burn is around 4200, so 6000 now seems high to me.

I normally stay around the same calories. If I want to drop a little I just add more cardio but I do know guys that were the thin wiry type that literally need to eat anything and everything to pack mass on. Lol I ain't them for sure. Like someone stated above a 5-10% increase or decrease is all I do
