Some of the Top Benefits of Resveratrol

Resveratrol belongs to the group of flavonoids containing carbon, hydrogen and oxygen combined together in a molecular composition and is used as a natural defense by plants. Chemical name of Resveratrol is Trans-3, 5, 4-trihydroxystilbene. It is present in blueberries, grapes, spruce, eucalyptus, mulberries and peanuts. Resveratrol have a number of properties which are beneficial and are explained below:

• Anticancer: It is helpful in preventing DNA damage and mutation in the gene cells. It works as an immune against cyclooxygenase-1 enzyme, which is responsible for causing tumor by converting arachidonic acid to tumor producing agents.

• Antioxidant: It is clinically proven to stop damage caused by oxidative properties of heavy metals such as cadmium. It also prevents the damage caused to skin by exposure to ultra violet radiation and also prevents damage caused by nitride radicals to the endothelial cells.

• Anti-diabetic: Resveratrol has anti-diabetic properties and works effectively against oxidative damage caused due to high concentration of glucose in the body. In addition it also leads to reduction of diabetic neuropathic pain.

• Heart Related: It is helpful for heart and blood carrying vessels as it prevents the oxidation of lipids by eliminating oxidants responsible for lipid oxidation. In addition it also alleviates the damage caused to heart after a cardiac arrest and also prevents endothelial cells from apoptosis. A regulated supply of Resveratrol prevents danger caused by accumulation of platelets which leads to atherosclerosis.

• Anti-Toxic: It has shown positive signs as an anti-toxic agent in reversing damages caused by toxins such as bleomycin. It also reduces toxication effect of ethanol which can lead to brain and liver damage. Concentration of Gentamicin, which is responsible to cause kidney damage, is reduced considerably by proper amount of Resveratrol in the body. Studies have shown that it is also beneficial in increasing lifespan of individuals who intake a high calorie diet.

I get a significant amount of it in supplement form, specifically for the heavy metal and heart aspects.
