On the matter of “a calorie is a calorie” and simply reducing calories to reduce fat.
Is thermodynamics the days all, ends all on the matter?

I’m hopeful this link is public accessible — it’s from an Instagram post. It’s Jason Fung MD. He’s a nephrologist (kidney / renal system specialist) so he works with metabolic function routinely.

Well both glucose are fructose are simple sugars, neither is a complex carb, which are starches. Starches are long chains of glucose, which take longer to break down into individual glucose molecules to begin the Krebs Cycle , so they're utilized more slowly than simple sugars.

Gotcha!....Thanks for the reply!...

Update:

So, keeping calories and activity basically the same since April and simply adjusting the macros I've managed to shed 42 pounds as of this morning.

3,000-3,400 Calories from meat, breads, rice, veggies, etc vs almost nothing but meat for the past 3 months. I feel great, waist is down from 36" to 34. And for the first time in about 8 years I'm under 200.

Typical days eating is:

1st meal - large protein shake with zero carb/sugar isolate in almond milk with greek yogurt

2nd meal - Bacon and eggs or sausage and eggs

3rd meal - 2 x 12oz sirloin steaks or a porterhouse

4th meal - Pound of ground beef

Sometimes I'll replace the second steak with beef liver. And the last meal is sometimes a bit more beef if I have some left over steak. Starting weight was 241. Weight now is 199. Energy is up. Can roll in jiu-jitsu for over an hour. Strength is up a bit in the gym as well. Look at me violating the laws of thermodynamics and shit...lol

Let me repeat, This is with NO DECREASE IN CALORIES. Maybe even a slight increase on some days. NO INCREASE IN ACTIVITY.

@gunslinger , you shed 42 pounds in 3 months and your waist only dropped 2”? Do you have some pictures of this incredible transformation that was achieved without dropping calories?

Hahahaha. I’m just kidding dude, we all know you’re full of the he worst kind of negative shit and now you’re just spittin’ lies to try to save face and create some attention/drama for yourself.

I’m also still waiting on an address for where you’re a 25th degree black belt.

Gunslinger you do BJJ right? So I'm assuming your daily activity is helluva lot more than average gym rats. 40lbs in 3 months is fantastic!

Yeah I teach BJJ. I'm rolling (grappling) 3-4 days per week for 30-45 minutes. Weight are 3 days per week for about 45 mins to and hour. I think some of my 20 something blue belts are trying to murder me these days...lol

@testboner @myosaurus

Y’all are buying this, really? I’ll have a whole bunch of gently used fireworks available for sale tomorrow. I’ll sell ‘em to ya for half what I paid.

? I dropped 50lbs and a subsequent 3” waist circumference reduction. So depending on body shape it’s entirely reasonable that one might see a 2” waist reduction from a 42lb loss. That’s not at all unreasonable.

I’ve seen a few latinas that have really large legs and rumps and even thick upper arms, but a narrow waist. So maybe you and gunslinger carry the vast majority of your fat in your extremities. I don’t know, seems weird to me. Sounds like both of you measured incorrectly and/or simply guessed based on squeezing into jeans.

I too have lost over 40 pounds at times in my life. Many many inches came off my waist. Maybe gunslinger forgot to mention that he came off all gear too and dropped a bunch of muscle. But 40+ lbs with minimal waist change is suspect, especially after his tiresome bickering and childish retorts and then prolonged silence and poof, a miracle! He makes you look bad, unfortunately, because I think you offer a lot to our board.

He could easily shut me up with some proof. I’m all about results and have considered playing with your carnivore diet for some time. But this “update” has actually swayed me the other way, not convinced me of anything.

Why does this thread remind me of what good intentions we had getting into Afghanistan and how much difficulty we've had getting out? ;)
