Could be slight bearing imbalance from one leg to the other causing hip flexor to fatigue and burn. I cracked an SI joint in my pelvis a number of years ago, and every now and again it declares anarchy and tries to kill me. My SI will start to hurt, and then my hip will go to shit from compensating. Lunges seem to keep it stretched out for me. You can lean your torso back at the bottom of each lunge movement and really pull on the trailing hip.
