I always get a good squeeze in the middle head when I lean over to the side I'm working and actually have my head down looking more towards the ground with my arms raising up parallel to my side and a little bend in the elbows. The key is finding which form works for you to get a good contraction. I also bend my head forward and down when doing dumbbell shrugs and feel it more in the traps doing it this way.
