So, now that I am officially old as fuck my Dr is pushing shingles shot as well as flu etc.
I never had a flu shot in my life and am wary as fuck after the Covid scandal so do you cats know anything firsthand about the shingles thing?
I had chicken pox as a kid and all that.
Let me know what you guys think I kinda trust you guys..lol
Thanks

I don’t have to get the shot for another year so I don’t have personal experience to share as far as that goes. I do know that shingles fking sucks though because I know people that have had it. When it’s my turn I will take the shot.

i did not take the covid shot but I have had flu shots before

I had shingles once and it wasn't fun. Especially when it spread below the equator. i don't see any harm in the vaccine. Not like it's a china murder virus unvaccine :- )

I like my prestigious peers did NOT get the covid shot but DID get the shingles shot. I have had friends that got it and they said it was miserable. It is an attenuated virus so it can make people with weak immune systems a bit ill, I had no probs at all. I have not probs with regular vaccines.

I turned it down. The doctor acted like he being forced to push it. When it comes to things he is serious about he keeps pushing me.. With this shingles shot he gave up pretty quick.

Generally speaking, I avoid any vaxx except tetanus (lock jaw scares me lol) only because I have always considered myself healthy and young enough to naturally fight off these viruses.

Definitely did not receive any jabs in the past five years.

That being said, I had Bell’s Palsy about 10 years ago which was either caused by a Lyme disease flare up or Shingles virus.

They couldn’t give me a definitive answer as I was under a lot of stress at the time, and it was the stress that caused one of those viruses to reactivate.

I’m saying all this because only recently did my stress level pick back up again, and I caught myself considering getting the shingles vaccine when I was waiting at the doctor’s office and reading one of the posters on the wall.

Doctor didn’t mention it so neither did I, however in that moment of weakness, I may have said yes.

I am still 100% sold that my family all made the right decision not to get any of the pandemic era vaccines.

I had one dose of the Shingrix, had quite a response to it, arm was red and hurt for a week and mild systemic. Never got the second dose but there are some small data sets out there that suggest a single dose yields a good immune response and decent protection. Shingles is a bitch, lasts forever and very painful. I opted for an in-between approach. Some protection. Only had one COVID vaccine, the J&J standard vac, won't do the mRNA versions. Have had COVID 3 times, all different but generally mild. Rather generate immunity via infection vs a vaccine that is already outdated. Vit D and Curcurmin.

I only got the covid shot cus the ol lady n daughters are nurses. She was working in an elderly care facility at the time and they kept at me like a pack of hounds.

Never got any other vaccines, I don't generally believe in that sort of thing.

If I get sick and it doesn't kill me , it just makes me stronger is my theory.

It’s funny every time I would see my doctor I’d ask the nurses that take your vitals, talk to you & check you in if they would’ve got the vaccine if they had a choice. They pretty much all skated around the question not giving a direct answer. Fast forward to now & everyone has said they only did it to keep their jobs or say how they were forced & wished they wouldn’t have done it. Several have said they would never do it again & would just lose their job over it. The truth always comes out eventually.
Covid ruined any trust I had in any vaccine. They went about it all wrong imo.
