When I had lung cancer it tried a massive blood clot in my leg. The doctor put in an IVC filter which I had in for year. I am off all blood thinners thank goodness.

So you got off the thinners because to the filter?
im interested in that.

I just had my 3rd clot in my left leg. First one broke off and gave me a pulmonary embolism.
I have been on warfarin since. Tried Eliquis but that gave me horrible side effects, tried something else that didnt work either.
I had to travel to Iceland a month ago and stayed for 4 days before coming back. I was on warfarin but still got a clot. Used Lovenox (injectable) for 10 days and it seems that the clot is gone.
Now im taking pradaxa. Just got back from Mexico and I was concerned taking a new drug but no sides so far.

Is there anything you have to do with the filter or is just set and forget?

Sorry, I should of been more clear. When it was determined I was cancer free the doctor eliminated the blood thinners. I was on eliquis for almost 3 years. Plus chemo and then oral chemo.
