wasn't he the first person to bench 1000 lbs? RIP.

I am very sad to have heard this. In my career I met Gene quite a few times. He is truly a great man and a loss. Thoughts and prayers to his wife.

That is correct.

I did all 8 of my competitions with RPS and he was at every one of them.

When I got injured in 2017 (groin tear on a 605 squat attempt) he came running over and helped get my knee wraps off as I couldn't move at first the pain was so bad.

Not long after that, he became the first man to dump over 1000lbs on himself during an attempt @1015. Looked scary as shit, but he was relatively ok after that.

Flex and rps are what got me into pl. I had the pleasure of meeting Gene at my first meet. I hope Ame and the directors can keep it alive

Gene was a great man and I am happy to say knew him personally from back in the day. The man had achieved so much in the PL world but gave back so much more.

Yeah Gene was the first to bench over 1,000 lbs. and also did a 1,000 lb squat.
