We all to love eat those fatty foods, since they kill our appetite. You know, the ones that we're not really supposed to eat. It's hard to change our eating habits, since we have had those habits since childhood. While it may be detrimental to our health, we go ahead and eat most of them anyway. From corn dogs, to French fries, to greasy fried chicken; we can't get enough of this stuff.

What happens when we eat too much fatty food, and our bodies get a little out of whack? This may result in some much-dreaded heartburn. Can you say OUCH? No one wants to deal with nasty, gassy indigestion. Luckily there are a few remedies for heartburn close by and available for everyone. You can get rid of that horrible chest pain, and do it quickly.

Have you ever had heartburn? Most Americans know this condition well. My wife is the only person I have ever known that claims she's never had heartburn. I told her, hey you need a heart to have heartburn. She ignored that statement, since she knows she doesn't eat like I do.

The truth is, most of us eat foods on a daily basis that can in-fact give us some sort of heartburn. Do you understand what heartburn is? Well, as you know, we all have powerful acids splashing around in our stomachs. Its HCl acid and it has a pH 1.0 to 2.5 which is necessary for dissolving meat. Fortunately our super durable stomach linings contain sodium which neutralized these acids and allow us to feel normal. However, sometimes when we consume the wrong foods, the stomach acids tend to go a little wild. This can result in painful heartburn.

Now it's time to pinpoint remedies for heartburn. Which one works best for you? I have to say that I rarely get heartburn, but when I've had it in the past, I bolted for the medicine cabinet. Simple treatments such as Tums or Rolaids do the trick for me. But I don't recommend these treatments, they only mask and suppress your condition. Also, I don't recommend using milk to eliminate your heartburn, since it may have the opposite effect.

You can use Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root or DGL. It has a soothing effect and if you have any tissue damage in the esophagus, it will start to heal it. Use 1 or 2 tablets just before meal time.
One other thing that works well is digestive enzymes. Take a couple just before meals and if you forget take them during or after your meal. Use the broad band enzymes, which help you digest protein, carbohydrates, and fat. If you have a stomach ulcer, avoid using digestive enzymes that digest protein and stick with DGL.

Using digestive enzymes for acid reflux is quite effective, especially if you are over 50. As you age you produce less digestive enzymes and the amount of HCl your stomach produces is also less. By taking digestive enzymes, you are saving your internal digestive enzymes. Your body can only produce a certain number of enzymes and if you use them up quickly, you will have to use a digestive enzyme supplement to digest your food.

Are you in constant search of remedies for heartburn? If so, you need to change your eating habits. Have an occasional bout with heartburn is not problem, it only when you constantly have it. If you decide to use drugs to control, you will pay in the long run with a disease that will give you more pain that the heartburn. Well, if you don't care for the basics and still seem to suffer from some serious chest pain, it may be time to consult your physician to get started with drugs.

1 table spoon of Vinegar will kill most heart burn (better then tums).. Also, I think baking soda or powder (can't remember which one ) in water helps as well.
