Earlier this year, i was diagnosed with a large rotator cuff tear in my left arm (non dominant). Yay me. I wanted to have a nice summer so I just trained on it, then when it got too much to train on it, i just trained legs, hard.
So here we are i'm about 1.5 weeks out from the surgery. Surgery is on 11/6.
No idea how and when i tore it, but i was prescribed cipro for a UTI i had, and i took one or two doses before i realized what i was taking and what the side effects were. So i suspect it was comprised as a result of that cipro dosage i was taking. UGH. I knew i should have not taken it.

I've been dosing some GH at 2iu/per day (this is my 2nd week). Will up it to 3iu/day after surgery.

I've got some BPC 157 and also TB 500. Planning to run 250mcg/day of both. Still researching doses, but i think this might be what i do to start.

I plan to also increase my collagen intake post surgery.
Just picked up the ice machine the other day, this will be my new best friend right after surgery.
Taking 2 weeks off for work. I am a Program/Project Manager, so i sit at desk all day typing LOL.
I've gotten some loose fitting lounge pants and tops for post surgery. I need to go get me some slip on shoes. Might do that next weekend.
Next weekend, i plan to do my food prep. So all i have to do is put it into microwave for a meal.
Got pillows ready to prop arm up, but i think the sling has this big cushion on it.

I've already met my deductible for health insurance, so all i have to pay out of pocket is 10%. So looking at about $500-$600 US dollars is what i've estimated thus far. Yep, i have great insurance.

This is my 2nd RC repair surgery, had my right arm done in 2018. It has been doing great! Same surgeon doing my next surgery as did the previous, so im excited about that. He said that my new tear is worse then my other arm and that it is hanging on by a thread....don't know about that LOL.

I'm both nervous and also ready for this to be done. But also dreading the recovery......its sooooo looooong LOL. But i will be patient and listen to my body.

The only thing about my right arm, was that i swear my bicep is not as large as it was pre-surgery. So i'm worried about that on my left. I'm a body builder and hoping to do another show, probably not next year, but i think 2026 is achievable.

Thanks for reading and will keep log here as to how it is going.....

Sorry for you I have had both shoulders major overhauls on em, never been the same, LOOOOOOONNNGGGG assed recovery is right, keep the sling high eniugh that it is supporting the arm rather than dangling down at an angle like some of these morons I see, they won't ever really use there shoulder again anyway but you want to.
I used Gh only with my test and cranked legs like a mofo and did what I could with the unslinged arm.
Good luck with this and keep your chin up at least it is winter coming on.
Cheers

You’ve already had it done so you know what you’re in for. I had extensive rc surgery done on my left arm a few years ago. Pulled down my bicep and had to shave some bone.

I have barely trained since because I’m worried of reinjuring…hence my lack of posts.

Good luck with the recovery

4 years of WAAAAYY lighter training for me since both mine were done, I had just finally stepped it up when I tore my pec, it is indeed a slow fucked up process....
Bova, as you may already know those bent over "elephant trunk" swinging and slow rotations make a HUGE differenceI was doing em 5-6 times every day for 10-15 mins and ended up with pretty good mobility.

OH! @Littleguy thats a great tip! Thanks!

Big day tomorrow morning!

Last night, went out and got some slip on shoes.....being that i won't be able to tie any shoe laces for awhile LOL. Sketchers makes some slip on's and i was skeptical, but when i tried them on in the store, i was pleased....

Did some food prep this past Sunday so that i have no excuse.

The first few days if not weeks, i'll be sleeping in the recliner. We have a high bed, and i'd be scared to accidently fall when trying to get in/out of the bed LOL. Eventually i will go to bed with some propped up pillows i have.

Am ready for the drugs LOL.....

OK i'm sober now LOL.....

It was about day 5 after surgery i was tapering off the meds and i started to sober up. Said to hubs, dang i think i'm sober now LOL.

So 1 week post op appt went well. Doc was happy and took stitches out. Said he was happy with the bruising and could tell i was using the ice. Which i was like 23 hrs/day for the first 4-5 days religiously then started to taper off. which is weird because just in the last few days bruising has come out. its gross and i feel gross. This is the part of the healing i don't like.

So at the post surgery appt, the doc put in orders for the CPM machine. So i've been doing that all week now for 4hrs/day. I'm up to 85 degrees now....woohoo.
At the 6 week mark from surgery is when he will evaluate whether to start PT or not.

So i've had this surgery in 2018, but it seems that the pain has maybe not been as bad as the first surgery. And that is probably because i've had it before, blah blah.
But also this time around, im using peptides and GH. I didn't do that for the prior surgery. I sure do feel like it is making a difference.
I do have good days and bad.
My neck and upper traps are so fcking tight. I've been putting a heat wrap every once in awhile on it.

Day 3 post surgery i started to take walks outside just for a little bit.
Day 8 post surgery i was back at the gym. I asked the doc on the check up and he ok'd what i can/cannot do. He said he basically doesn't want me to contortion myself getting in and out of the machines. I'm good with that.
On day 8, i did legs. Did sled, seated calf and standing hamstring. I did 30 mins on recumbent bike before and did about 3 sets each at about 12-15 reps. That was a slow an decent start. I'm good with that.
Day 9, i did 30 mins recumbent bike and did back/bicep for upper right arm. Just felt good to move. and i did movements where i can manage the machine/handle, etc. My gym is soooo wonderful that the regulars there know i had this surgery and are sooo helpful, asking me if i want plates loaded, etc.
If the gym is too busy i'll just do cardio. Right now i am going into my 3rd week post surgery, and i know from the doc he says that it takes 6-8 weeks for the tendons to take onto the bone, so i'm really leary about being around a lot of people at the gym. I just want to avoid accidents, etc. I worked too hard for this shit and i don't wanna fuck it up.

I'm able to now bath myself and wash my hair now. I'm not able to style my hair, so its a mess. But oh well, again part of the process. Its all about what you care/tolerate.

Sleep eludes me....just can't get comfortable LOL. So gummies or whatever is my go to. Tylenol PM was doing wonders, but i think i've built up a tolerance now LOL.

I'm trying to get back on point on my diet and with cardio so i can lose some of this depression fat LOL.

Right now, i'm focusing on my foods and cardio. If i miss a work out, i'm not going to get bent out of shape. Not right now. Now, 6 mos from now that is different. Shoot one guy at the gym said i was hard core being back at it. That it would have been his excuse NOT to go. As would any other normal person. but i like to move and i know how important it is to move and get bloodflow, etc.

Anyhow, better get back to my chair (not a sex chair!) and get my time in....
