Change the title to: "Psychosocial Functioning in Muscle Dysmorphic Adults After 2 Years of Androgen Treatment"

It would be interesting to do a study where low/moderate doses of AAS were prescribed to individuals with Muscle Dysmophia for 2 years under medical supervision and see if the outcome was similar, and what side effects occurred.

One could argue side effect risks and ethics, but if you can treat youth with androgens or estrogens that will produce the exact same sides that androgens/estrogens would elicit in adults, it would be a hard argument to win and adults are far more likely to be able to deal with what happens than youth. If we can treat youth with androgens for the purpose of improving their QOL, why not adults? Given that most of them do not want to look like genetically altered farm animals, dosing would not be extreme and any sides manageable.

Bottom line, if we can treat kids with hormones to make them happy, you can’t criminalize the use of hormones for the same purpose in adults.

Just another example of how fucked up the laws are regarding androgens and cosmetic use. Fine for kids, trans and non-binary to change the way they look because it makes them feel better about themselves, felony for adult males for the same reason.

Can't imagine this thread won't wander off in different directions, to include an array of humorous "fact-supporting" memes, but it's an interesting thought about the hypocrisy of The Law.

Testosterone and related growth promoting drugs were added to the controlled substances act for the purpose of reducing their use in sports that specifically tests for these drugs. We also know what happened to the UG sourcing since then, it blew up. It all started with Ben Johnson in 1988. While there were some safeguards put in place to ensure that the average meat head didn't end up with serious legal trouble over personal possession, in the end that is the way it ended up. Now with it being OK for kids and women to change the way they look with the same hormones guys get busted over, neither having anything to do with sports, it is time for a change. Ironically, we warn kids about the dangers of testosterone to build muscle yet the same dangerous substance is OK to change the way one looks that includes building muscle as long as it is related to gender dysphoria not muscle dysphoria. In an email exchange with Rick Collins and one of his psych colleagues, we agreed that the only way this has any chance of being changed, it will have to happen in court with a doc that gets caught prescribing them for cosmetic reasons (not sports) and the defense is that the doc was enhancing the QOL for the individual, just like the FTM, non-binary and kids. Rick is the only one on this planet that could pull the covers off this hypocrisy and taking a shot at nullifying the law.

Collins has defended many "normal" steroid cases for many years ("normal" as in ... those who buy and sell ... not a test case involving a doctor who prescribes to QOL-seeking body dysphoria types as W6 describes).

As I understand it, his reputation has led to him doing consults to the lawyers of defendants who live outside the areas where he is already admitted to practice Law.
