Was looking at myself in the mirror today and my traps are lost in my shoulders lol been on this power lifting kick to long I guess... So Im going to get some straps and load up a barbell and hammer some of these out once a week... What kind o weight do you guys work with on these? I'll list my current lifts and maybe you guys might have an idea were I should be at, I don't want to be the guy who uses 60lb dumb bells to lift his shoulders up for a marathon o reps... Need my traps like yesterday I look pathetic and no I won't post pics

Squat 405lbs x2
Dead 500lbs x2
Bench 250lbs multiple reps n sets

My buddy oldschool does these. Last vid I think he had like 600 something on the bar. I tried them once, not for me.

My shoulder development sucks so my traps look fine. I just do the usual shrugs but also a lot of upright rows and hang cleans... Oldschool is fucking yoked... The guy is an old bull! You should also try some heavy as hell rack pulls and you can also mix in some static hold - pull then hold contracted until failure.

Shrugs are one of my favorite muscles to workout and maybe it's genetics but seem to grow in strength and size the fastest... I don't know anything about power shrugs though.. I typically put about 315 on a barbell, hands close to the middle, thumbs touching at each point and will do 4 sets of 12.. Drop weight and do a super set till I can't shrug anymore.. I try to hold each shrug for a few seconds each rep too..
I'll do barbell shrugs in front and then do the same sets from behind.. Little less weight though, 225..
Then I'll do the typical dumbbell shrugs, heaviest bells avail, 4 sets of 12, squeeze/hold each shrug, then drop weight again...
This seems to work for me but may not work for others.. My 2 cents though.

I like the heavy shrugs I think my traps are ok, I also think deads do it as well as rack pulls. I am starting to believe the fat yellow bands on the deads would do big things with just the bar, I've seen significant change in my traps since I started using the big yellows for deads.

I don't know about Power Shrugs but I would recommend Snatch Pulls of Clean Pulls. If you don't know what they look like I can post a vid and description.

I do these but with the bar behind me, and no straps.

Slow raise and decent on the reps with a few second pause at peak

225 x 25 *warm up
225 x 25 *warm up
315 x 8-10
345 x 8-10
365 x 6-8
365 x 6-8
315 x failure
