Here we have the beginnings of a squat rack. They told me they are just waiting on the bars to get there.

So my YMCA just cut back their weekend hours a second time, and the hours sucked to begin with. I always keep a PF membership for backup and traveling.

Today I went looking at new gyms because I want to leave the Y altogether now. Well lo and behold a gym bro tells me to go check out the new equipment at this PF I hadn't been to in years.

I walk in and it's-
1. Not packed at all on a wed evening, unlike the shitty one by my house.

2. They had a TON of new machines almost all plate loaded stuff like the hammer strength stuff I like.

3. Then I see these squat racks roped off, and holy shit. I never thought I'd see a squat rack in a PF.

What is going on here? Are they gonna get rid of the lunk alarm and start catering to true gym bros?

I gotta spend some more time on this. I forgot to check the db rack, and I know most of them only go up to 75's.

I'm starting to think this could work as my main gym now. wow

Planet Fitness has probably peaked, and now they’re trying to find new ways to make more money. Chris Rondeau was pushed out, and the Grøndahl brothers have started letting their kids get involved. Those were the founding members who originally came from a Gold’s Gym background before breaking off to start PF. That’s why the whole culture has started to change, even though the brand was originally built around first time gym users and not bodybuilders.

Man if they can just get some heavier dumbells that would seal the deal. Do any of them have db's over 75 lbs?

The Y is so close to my house, I really wish they had Hammer Strength equipment. They just took over a new building and will be moving to a much bigger space so I'm hopeful.

That rack is only flr curling btw @Cohiba

I'm forced into a Y membership because my kid swims for them, so it's my backup / access to a steamroom and a sauna. But they got a lot of HS, and weirdly a lot of cable stack Hammer Strength, which I've never seen anywhere else.

Both the ones in my town just go to 75lbs. I would love a bent over row too, Neither of ours have one.

My Ymca gym is great other than the hours.
