A company that wants the customer to believe it's a 55lb bar(?)

Maybe. Dude that works at the gym told me he thought it felt heavy so he weighed it and it was 55 lbs.

I got the serial number that was stamped into the end of the bar and looked it up online. Manufacturer says it's 52 lbs., but they also says it's 40kg, and if you click "more information" it says it weighs 59 lbs. Weird.

Weird all around. Either dude at gym has sloppy scale skills, York doesn't know 40kg = a hair over 88lbs, not 52 or 59, or it just depends on the humidity lol.

"Doctor Ken" Leistner used to say a lot of weird stuff himself, once said a guy at York confessed their bars were like cookies, "there's good batches and there's bad batches," but that was DECADES ago. Back in the day, Eleiko always used to be the Rolls Royce of bars and plates, but I figured the mushrooming popularity of PL would have seen other companies up their game.

Sorry. Typo on my part they said it's 20kg, not 40, which is only 44 lbs.

My other gym has some Hampton bars that feel heavy as fuck to me as well but I've never weighed them to find out. So either the handful of Hampton bars are 50+ lbs or all the other ones are not 45 lbs, because there's a noticeable difference between the two.

Anything that is cast I expect some variability in weight; like cast iron plates, but a bar should have a small error tolerance.

Did squats yesterday but I wasn't really feeling it. No wrapped or belted sets and only got up to 435 for a few singles. Blah.

I don't know how anyone can squat with a 45lbs bar. Personally, I only back squat with my TSB and it's 55lbs. I tried using a TPB in a pinch b/c of time and it felt like a toothpick. Couldn't do it. I use a 45 for my front squats but never back squats.
