I have not been on social media in over 10 years. One of the last straws for me was I posted the lyrics to the John Lennon song imagine. The religious zealots came out of the work and tore me apart told me how because of people like me this world is going to hell in a handbasket. I just like the damn song. Didn't get any death threats but that is fairly new within the last few years of people really getting too emotionally charged and threatening other people.

I don't look at social media I don't pay any attention to anything anybody says because if I want to know a good generalized answer to most things I can come right here to the iron den and with such a diverse group of people here I can get some good opinions without feeling like I'm being bombarded by a bunch of trolls.

The world is pretty messed up and people have truly gone insane

People love absolutes, makes it easier to think (or not think)… so many variables to consider, people dont have critical thinking skills… my goto question is usually “whats your goal and where are you starting from?” But thats too much work.
Most of the time when someone asks me a question, my response is, "It depends."

On a related topic but a completely unrelated post. I made the comment about doctors and western medicine that "A patient cured is a customer lost" I got over 11,000 likes on that in two days and today instagram has suspended my account for 24 hours. :D

I found out today that people are more divided when it comes to nutrition than they are religion. Last night I posted a comment on instagram that stated "Caloric deficit is not required to lose weight. What you eat is far more important than how much you eat." I woke up this morning to over 350 insults and personal attacks at me, 412 likes on my comment and 3 actual death threats against me. One of those actually called my business. This tells me that people are so indoctrinated when it comes to nutrition that it IS their religion.

I never said calories don't matter at all. Of course they do to an extent. But there are many other factors to take into consideration. It blows my mind that in 2024 people are still following the food pyramid and believing a calorie is a calorie no matter what the source.....lol
That is absolutely ridiculous. Keyboard bullies that are bored. I agree with you. I am up an extra 600 clean calories a day and I’m down 3 lbs. They’re just mad if you told them McDonalds is bad. People absolutely will not give up there fast food.

I did an experiment several years ago to prove that calories only do not equate into gaining or losing weight.

I don't take in a lot of calories I just don't need a lot to maintain where I'm at but on this experiment I was doing 5,000 calories of protein calories only and I did that for 8 weeks.

I had a dexa scan done before the experiment so I knew exactly where my body fat muscle ratio was so I could calculate my resting metabolic rate. Based on all the information over 8 weeks taking in 5,000 calories I should have gained 42 LBs.

I was very strict on what I was eating making sure I was taking in lots of variety of protein sticking strictly with chicken fish and a lot of red meat. Overall I gained about 4 lb which I would say was probably muscle just do the increase of protein and I was lifting very regularly during the whole routine but did not change my cardio whatsoever. Most people thought I was lying and there's no way I can eat that many calories and not gain a bunch of weight.

Calories are calories but calories are not all treated the same by your body. People just don't understand because most of them eat crap every single day and to them they think eating healthy is eating a salad every once in awhile and then just eating fast food the rest of the time.

Thats it right there! 3,000 calories of sugar are not the same as 3,000 calories of steak and chicken and your body is not going to react the same. Also the who calorie = calorie thermodynamics BS would work great if it was not for hormone imbalances, insulin resistance, food allergies, etc, etc. I've done tests on myself many times and even logged everything I ate on here. Lost weight on 4,800 calories and gained on less than 2,000 per day. No increase or decrease in activity. The ONLY change was the Macros.

This is literally common sense.

The thing that gets me is this: If you know what you are saying is true there is no reason to rage. If you are raging you are indoctrinated. I remember getting death threats daily about the so-called vaccine a few years ago too. Thankfully most of those people are dead now from heart failure. :D

Even if you disagree with somebody else where does a death threat come into play? Why can't people just disagree and just say well I don't agree with you?? It makes no sense but it just comes down to indoctrination where people hear something on Facebook or they're stupid friend and they regurgitate whatever information they find or hear.

If I don't agree with somebody after reading something on the Internet I generally just shake my head and go on with my day
