I found out today that people are more divided when it comes to nutrition than they are religion. Last night I posted a comment on instagram that stated "Caloric deficit is not required to lose weight. What you eat is far more important than how much you eat." I woke up this morning to over 350 insults and personal attacks at me, 412 likes on my comment and 3 actual death threats against me. One of those actually called my business. This tells me that people are so indoctrinated when it comes to nutrition that it IS their religion.

I never said calories don't matter at all. Of course they do to an extent. But there are many other factors to take into consideration. It blows my mind that in 2024 people are still following the food pyramid and believing a calorie is a calorie no matter what the source.....lol

Yeah, man. This country is doomed. I posted something on Facebook about the hurricane damage (I am in Sarasota, Florida) because we took the eye of the storm. The next day there was an angry, ugly battle going on on that thread. All I did was post pictures of the storm damage showing my childhood neighborhood looking like a warzone.

Everyone is primed to fight about absolutely anything.

A couple of years ago I lost a couple friends on Facebook. They were upset about a picture of cheeseburger I took. The Trumpies were upset because the restaurant has a liberal owner. The Vegan libs were upset over meat eating, calling meat, murder..

It was just a cheeseburger. I like cheeseburgers.

If you post anything about training or nutrition on IG, you better be dug in well with protective fires, because the hate is coming. It doesn't matter who you are. I have seen guys jump on Dante, John Jewett, Phil Viz and other SMEs when what they posted was, "In my experience...' People forget that part. We are not talking absolutes. We are talking about what we have observed and what works MOST of the time not ALL of the time.

YES, people are loony. I’ve always said; money, religion, politics (pretty much the same thing as an actual religion) and food are EXTREME emotion topics for people.

People love absolutes, makes it easier to think (or not think)… so many variables to consider, people dont have critical thinking skills… my goto question is usually “whats your goal and where are you starting from?” But thats too much work.

Divided. Very much on purpose. Why? Money, of course. A little off topic but everything is about money.

The FDA will NEVER approve a naturally occurring substance (food or supplement) that is helpful or healing. Why? Because it cannot be patented. Therefore, no money can be made by big pharma.
Big pharma gives money to politicians to pass laws supporting the FDA regulations. To keep the money flowing, the FDA will not allow any product to reach the market unless it has been tested. Natural substances are never tested by the FDA. They are studied by big pharma funded scientists for safety and efficacy. Guess what? Natural substances are just about always found to be harmful or less effective than patented synthetics by the FDA - even when independent studies say otherwise.
