When you're squatting (performing squats like comp squats) you shouldn't pause in the hole. Down and up... no pause.

I found that out the hard way at my last comp when I paused with 590 and got stapled. (got my 600 next attempt though)

Since then I've been working on not pausing on my max lifts.

Good read and I'm going to start doing 5sec paused squats. I read a while back that just pause for a second or two killed the reflex. Not sure where I read it, but must me wrong..

I squat semi wide with oly shoes, when I bring my stance in more narrow. I get a bad butt wink.

Yeah Flex... When you're hitting heavy singles take FULL advantage of the stretch reflex. That's also why should descend as fast as technique allows.
