Me and my peers were at a Building Professional Institute conference last week getting CEUs for our licenses. In one of the classes I got called on (My worst nightmare as I was almost asleep) to answer some questions posed by the teacher. I said my name and which city I was from, blah blah said what I was supposed to say from 28 years of the same crap and sat down.

After the class I was going to get some coffee. This OLD man walks up with a big smile on his face and says "Hey Jipped, long time" and he shook my hand vigorously. I am looking at this old mofo and his face just is not registering. I don't have any friends that old but he greeted me like we were great pals.

I make small talk trying to recall who he is. He finally says "You don't remember me do you?" I admitted I did not.

He says I am Steven Borough, we went to highschool together.

My jaw dropped, I had a moment like from Fight Club where all the pieces came together. This old ass muther fuquer IS THE SAME AGE AS ME! We pulled some shenanigans in school, drank lots of brews, chased gals until he went to college and I never saw him again.

We talked for a bit before our next class. I went to take a leak and when I was washing my hands I looked at myself the mirror, really looked at my face.

When the hell did I get so old?

I don't feel that old, everything works still, Getting old sneaks up on ya brothers.

How y'all dealing with the fact of aging. Well over half my life is gone. DAMN

I'm living that reality brother. Somehow I'm about to be 58 it's mind boggling. I let myself get out of shape after a couple surgeries that I thought I could just get over and it isn't the case, recovering is a much bigger task that requires a lot of attention to detail. Then there's friends dying I mean after 3 decades in the military my friends are dropping like nobody's business. I've lost 30 friends since 2014.

My brain is still ready to go my body has issues LOL. I always thought I would be the really old guy doing crazy shit but the lack of cartilage is a problem I wasn't mentally prepared for and the torn things along with 14" of plates and 18 screws in a couple places. However all that being said I think being back here amongst the other lunatics is helping a ton. Nobody here is half stepping as far as I can see we're doing what we can supporting each other and that's invaluable. I miss moving giant weight I miss the ungodly pressure the burst capillaries and nose bleeds and being on a team or coaching but here we are at whatever stage we're at and still getting after it is in my opinion the best medicine.

Right there with you man, and going through it right now as well. I see some guys who look WAYYY older than me, despite our ages being the same. I don't feel old, and I don't look like I am that old, but I am definitely no spring chicken either. I think about it more and more every day, as well as just look at myself more, especially in pictures, to see what is up, lol.

Most everybody says I look 10-20 years younger than I am, so that helps.

The sucky part though is that this doesn't just hit the men, the women look atrocious! The ones who don't are taken. I haven't really been looking to reengage back into the dating pool, but I see what is out there, and it's scary:( LOL! Then you have the ones who hide it very well with make-up and screening their pics, and when you see them in real life they look like hags 20 years older:eek:

Good thing you are married dude!!!

On a side note, some gay dude was hitting on me in Aldi's last weekend:rolleyes: He approached me asking how I had such a great tan, lol. I kept it short, but respectful, and then walked off mid-sentence as to look like I was in a hurry to get somewhere.

Women 0 , Men 1

That's my world over the past few weeks:(

Guessing that most of us graduated High School when we were 18yo, or thereabouts.

The first coupla HS Reunions were probably low attendance, but that 25th may have been the best.

That's the best one ... peak attendance cause "25" is one of those magical numbers, cause classmates who still attend are noticing how much better WE look, and cause attendance goes down after that one.

Next magic number will be "50" attendance will be way down, but the "how much better WE look" index will have skyrocketed ;)

One of my favorites is when my clients complain about training and being old then I tell them I am 5-15 years older than them. They can't believe it.

I could tell them it is all about taking care of yourself, blah, blah, blah, but I think it is more about just not really giving a shit about anything that is outside my control. If I can control it and it impacts me then I will spend a majority of my time on it. If I cannot control it and it impacts me, I just say fuck it and move on. I give it about 5% of my time. If it has no impact on me, I don't care. Just move on.

Same boat here. I come across people I used to know when I was a teenager and so many of them look SO old. I don't feel like I look as old as they do and continuously have my age guessed much younger than my mid 40s, but damn I can't get over how much older some people look who are the same age as me.

I think it really all comes down to the lifestyle we all choose to live. Most of them don't work out regularly. At least their definition of working out regularly isn't the same as mine and most of them eat complete and utter garbage on a regular basis. I'm sure genetics plays its role, but epigenetics is important. So many people don't make smart lifestyle choices most of the time. I never really thought about it much when I was younger, but now that I'm getting older I can see the stark differences between making healthier choices and not.

Trying to date while living a bodybuilding and fitness lifestyle as I'm approaching middle age is a total nightmare. Especially in the times of camera filters, insane make-up and fake... well everything. Combine that with the poor diet and lifestyle choices most people fall into for convenience as they get older. I end up finding two different types of women. One who doesn't give any shits about her appearance, or health. That's gonna be a pass for me. The other who walks in looking like she just spent an hour at Home Depot painting her face on, eyelashes so damn long they poke my in the face as she sits down at the table with lips so puffy it looks like someone repeatedly punched her in the mouth over and over until her upper lip swelled up so big it now rests heavily on her bottom lip, of which it is shockingly the same size. Also, a hard pass.

Looks like single it is lol.

I quit 10th grade and got a GED. Hows that for old school ? hahahaahah

56 coming up fast for me. Most of the guys I grew up with are dead or walking a yard some where , there aint too many of us left.

My grandkids are my fountain of youth. Their laughs n giggles , the endless energy , the curiosity as they discover and learn new things. Fires me up gives me all I need to get up off the ground , rub some mud on whats bleeding and get back in the fight.

12 of em so far , and I'm planning on dancing at every one of their weddings.
