Ah, got you.. I study quantum mechanics too, but you are saying there is no way I can learn anything about quantum mechanics , unless I ACTUALLY build a particle collider myself and smash atoms all by myself. Hell, there is no way I know for sure there really is a Grand Canyon.. I need to travel there myself and verify it. I have only ever seen pictures, heard stories and listened to podcasts describing the Grand Canyon. It may not be there! How could I know. I've never witnessed it or had a good friend tell me about it. I only really know about the Grand Canyon in those books..
Fuck, this sucks, I've been operating under the assumption that England serves a lot of fish and chips, but how could I actually know unless I go to England and travel to thousands of restaurants?? Fuck.. I only know about England's love for fish and chips in from what I've read in books. (Those silly books written by people who travel and live there) But you have now proven to me that the only way to know anything is to travel there, immerse myself in their culture, speak to thousands of people there, eat in thousands of places.
In fact, I've had to rely on experts my whole life. Like the people who tell me the earth is round! Oh shit dude.. There is no way I can REALLY know for sure unless I build a rocket and travel to space! Otherwise I'm just listening to so called experts tell me the world is round. I've never been to space. Is it real?? Does it exist?? Now everything I thought I know is in doubt! Oh, the existential agony.. Nothing ever said in a book or educational podcast is real.
I've listened to countless podcasts and listened to dozens of ebooks from people who were there. People who know the region's history, power structures, religious and geographical dynamics. They spend their lives studying this region and its issues. I'll trust them even over my old drinking buddy Joe who was there.
