MG,
I remembered back to some of our prior discussions about diet, foods, ingredients we consume — carnivore vs glucose heavy, veggie etc. And it struck me, politics / politicians are like carbs.

They’re in just about everything and everywhere. They’re most abundantly artificial ultraprocessed “junk food” / garbage. Americans in particular are addicted to and consume them in excessive amounts. They (sugars = “politicians / politics”) go by many different names. They are hard to stop! Our health has been / is being largely negatively impacted by their overconsumption.

They may be cautiously utilized as a tool. We don’t want to give them up, they are fiercely defended, and yet ultimately they are non essential — we can thrive without them
I definitely agree with this about politicians. The system has gotten Trump elected twice. You can't just shit on people and tell them how great things are. You can't be pro woman and put trans men in sports locker room the military all while not being able to define what a woman is. We need reform in congress term limits for sure and limits on lobbying. This country has gotten away from capitalism to corporatism. People also remember the totalitarian vaccine mandates and excessive lockdowns. So much crap cannot be ignored or forgotten.
There is change coming and some will be good and other things painful.
Overall the republicans have been given a mandate and they have a very tall ladder to climb. I just don't know a better system of government in the world besides the USA but it needs serious reform like you alluded to.
I hold my breath since the ones in charge aren't going to fire themselves.

An inescapable and valid concern about Trump (there are many), he signed the 6.2 TRILLION bill (that became an Act) that predominantly went to big pharma. It was the largest publicized wealth transfer in modern history at the stroke of a pen.
He initiated “Warp Speed” and he called / calls himself the father of the vaccine. That, aside from the technical reality that it’s not even truly a “vaccine,” is extraordinarily concerning.

We can throw out all that for COVID-19. He was outsmarted and shaken by the democrats almost his entire term. I remember when he signed the first COVID-19 bill he publicly stated just give me something to sign and I will sign it. So much pork and fraud in those bills. He had probably the worst people in his administration in the world his inexperience showed. He won't make the same mistakes again I hope. I got some relief that he did learn from last time by denying Haley and mike ozempic pompeo a spot in his team.

Nonetheless it doesn’t absolve him from responsibility. To be outsmarted on such matters of large scale significance and consequence, makes him inept and dangerous to put it politely. And he himself to this day continues to wear his actions involving the C-vid OP as a boastful badge of honor.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.

Thomas Jefferson.

Donald Trump, via the election, has earned the right to rule. And I fully support him in that.

But he will never be beyond my criticism when he fucks up. And no true patriot would expect that of me.

Thus, the tension and balance of being an informed, but patriotic citizen.

A true patriot loves his country, but never fully trusts any politician.

Even if it’s Trump. But for now, let’s stand behind him and give him every chance to succeed. Only an unpatriotic fool would hope for him to fail????

That’s just fucking stupid.

Agreed…. And any fixation on him / on ANY man to place hope in is largely unwise. I hope the best outcome to the benefit of the global population at large. My concern personally is for all humanity, all societies — I’m not a nationalistic supremacist in any way shape or form — I wish the best for everyone.

Not this time hardly inept hoping he learns from his mistakes after 4 dark years of recovery from all law fare.
Put the country first instead of going on a revenge tour.
The party is lost without him. I don't think Vance is the answer in 2028 and if the Republicans win in 2028 it will be with another establishment politician.

I agree, drop the revenge.

Ron Paul on patriotism:

The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state. Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment.

Peaceful, nonviolent revolutions against tyranny have been every bit as successful as those involving military confrontation. Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., achieved great political successes by practicing nonviolence, and yet they suffered physically at the hands of the state. But whether the resistance against government tyrants is nonviolent or physically violent, the effort to overthrow state oppression qualifies as true patriotism.

True patriotism today has gotten a bad name, at least from the government and the press. Those who now challenge the unconstitutional methods of imposing an income tax on us, or force us to use a monetary system designed to serve the rich at the expense of the poor are routinely condemned. These American patriots are sadly looked down upon by many. They are never praised as champions of liberty as Gandhi and Martin Luther King have been.

Here's an interesting article in the WSJ that I agree with. While it's directed primarily at "the latino vote" which the article basically states doesn't exist, I think it applies to so many other alleged voting blocks. Like the young men vote on Joe Rogan. To say that all those listeners are the same and fit neatly into a single category is just plain silly. It's a large block of diverse listeners, and if you're a politician you want the opportunity to give your two cents to a large group of listeners. At least I would.

America was founded as a Christian nation. I have no issue what anyone believes or thinks. We are all free thinkers and never once have I attacked anyone. I think this anti-government mantra and sovereign citizen shit is nonsense myself. I have no problems with those that believe or follow it. Many have strong feelings and beliefs. Don't care if anyone believes in any god or not.
What this thread turned into was complete obliteration of any polls.
Trump was always going to win no matter what. I feel bad for the democratic voters. They were lied to and mislead by the liberal fantasy elite media and lying pollsters. It wasn't even close. The democrats have shit on the common man and woman. Filling their coffers more than ever after their 4 year drought under Trump. I am very well off but still am shocked everytime I eat out or go to the store. I am cutting back on supplements because they are so expensive. I could afford it but refuse to pay anything remotely expensive. Reordering my ubiq/c10 and pycnogel was close to 150$. The pycnogel rose from 30 to 49 and the ubiq/c10 was 90. My omega 3s have went to 35 vs 18 in a year.
Trump has a huge mess they left him and many other things that mattered aren't in the news healthcare drug addiction and obesity are in the background. He may get his policies passed but they will slow walk or not do them at all. Democrats as Republicans do, will do everything to sabotage this country while he is in office. I send my sister 3k a month. She lives in a small town in an apartment that is $2500 a month. She has a good job making decent money as a pharmacy manager but when you add food gas insurance cell phone electric etc she is scraping buy. The money I send her is for her rainy day account.
I told her to use it anyway she wants.
Her husband of 20 years left her and my niece as soon as she turned 18 and left them with nothing telling them to go to a woman's shelter. He hid 100s of thousands of dollars and left her with 4 k. We have spent probably 30 k relocating her and helping her get on her feet. I see her struggles everyday as someone without a retirement and future relies on keeping a job that pays well enough to save for a future.
The struggles are real and this time people really voted for hope and change.
I don't believe in the system but it's all we got.
MG,
Your sister is very fortunate to have you as a brother. That you have the compassion, love, and the means to help her as you do is very fortunate. Much respect to you for that.
