Hello everyone. Posting to see if anyone has ever had this injury and if so did you have surgery, how long was the recovery, were you able ever to go to the gym ever again? Thank you in advance for your welcomed input. Happy new year all

Yep, been there. They weave a cord for lack of better term to the tendon, and in that is a little flip widget . They then drill a hole through your Ulna bone, and fish the line through and the witch flips and they sew you up. MANY FAIL because guys dont give it the time to properly heal. You MUST do physical therapy and DO WHAT THYE TELL YOU TO DO. Give it 1-2 years to fully integrate and heal....

Thank you for replying I appreciate it. So frustrating. Been going hard for 2 years after a long time off. Now this. Hoping I can at least get back to atleast doing cardio and legs or something before 1-2 years.

I know someone who ruptured his bicep tendon, and the doc said he could have surgery with a long recovery and normal appearance, or he could do nothing and it would look a little odd but the function and strength shouldn't be a problem.

He decided to do nothing and the doc was right....strength and function were not a problem....but you can definitely tell there is a moderate difference in appearance.

I will say this.....if you go ahead with the surgery, do it sooner rather than later. The more time that passes, the more painful it will be, as the tendon will ball up and contract, and it makes the surgery more painful. I experienced that during a quad tendon rupture....they kept me in the hospital for 4 days just to administer pain management meds....and there wasn't enough morphine in the world to make the pain go away. I was moaning in the bed and *the guy in the bed next to me (shared room)* actually told the nurses they needed to dope me up more. Not trying to scare you, just trying to give info. Granted, the quad tendon is much bigger than a biceps tendon, so pain should be much less. But good advice in here, listen to your doc and physical therapist and don't try to do things too soon.

I ruptured the distal bicep tendon on the left arm about 10 years ago.

get the surgery if possible....the recovery is a bit rough but if you ever want your arm to look normal again you must do it.

i made a full recovery and was back in the gym right away just doing legs 3 times per week.

i started training arms about 2 months after surgery while doing PT.

10 years later and everything is fine......you will have some atrophy of the bicep and tricep as well but you can get that all back and then some once you are healed.

I had to have mine cut and reattached during a shoulder op, healed up fine with only slight distortion of bicep. Pt was a big help!

My upper bi where it ties into my shoulder was frayed, on the verge of detaching, so the surgeon went in, cleaned up the fray and reattached it. He told me I would be 100% in 3 months, not even close. When I kept going back in with pain he told me I may need a shoulder replacement. He asked if I wanted to see a replacement specialist or wait and see. I knew damn well I didn't need to have my shoulder replaced, it wasn't that bad. So I kept training around it and used very light weights when I did do shoulder work, mostly side raises, and after about 3 yrs it is finally 100%. Now my rt shoulder is having the same pain my lft was so I'm gonna get an MRI and get the surgery if needed.

Tore my rotator cuff and bicep same time. Had the surgery. Was a workman comp injury, they took so long to get approval for the PT. Watched a ton of YouTube video did my own PT. Dr said I did a good job did only band work. Didn't get fully back into the gym for close to 6 months.

How long was your arm in the brace for the bicep to elbow tendon? Wondering if I can atleast do a recumbent bike after some time? Haven’t done anything in two weeks and I’m going crazy. Can’t imagine another couple months of this.
