    My back and legs were stiff so these were super hard. If I had been more flexible, I bet I could have gotten a third set. . . . Gotta start foam rolling my lower back until this stiffness goes away!

    Just a quick note to say I'm still out here, training and doing well.

    Today for Saturday Strongman Training we Squatted with a cantilevered bar doing high box squats 545 x 3 x 3, then dead lifts of 405 x 2 x 5 reps, and finally farmer carries of 270 per hand for 50 feet. The farmers were a huge PR for me as last time I tried them I couldn't even lift 270 off the ground and the few times I was able, I could only carry it 10 to 15 feet!

    Update on my weight goals.

    In January I did a 20 lb water cut to compete at a strongman meet at 198 lbs. When I weighed in, I had abs, probably for the first time ever. The cut went well, but afterward, I developed hiccups which cause serious stomach acid, and cramping. These have been recurring since then and I have been trying to fix them by changing my diet, etc. I compensated for the acid by eating and got up to 240 lbs over about 3 months (it wasn't pretty). Now I am cutting back down to 220 by November, and 210 by January. I plan to compete at 198 again this January, but this time will (hopefully) have only a 10lb water cut to make weight. Since I am competing as a lightweight master, I can be as much as 220. But I want to get back to 198 because I am trying to get as lean as I can, then hold my bodyfat down as I put on muscle going forward.

    Update on my strength goals.

    My max deadlift was about 625 a year ago, but since then has gone down. Now I can barely get 600#. I am hoping to bring that back up to 625, then increase it to 650 by next spring. My long term goal over a few years is a 700# dead lift. My max squat was 540 about a year ago. Now it I would be happy to get 500. I am hoping to bring that up to 600 within a year. My long term goal is to keep increasing this as much as possible. My max overhead press is about 240#. I'd like to hit 300, but that won't happen for a while. I'll be happy with 270 by next spring.

    I hit a training goal today, and exceeded my expectations. Doing overhead press, heavy doubles, I worked up from 260 lb doubles, to 265, then got a single at 270, failing on my attempt to get a second rep. Coach says this puts my 1 rep max around 290, maybe 295 lbs. So just like that, bam! I got my first OHP goal and nearly my second one, in a couple weeks from my post where I set my goals! I don't expect the same progress on my other lifts, because we have been working for over a month, to get to this stage in my OHP training, but not my other lifts.

    Considering I have been training with 280 per hand, I was surprised at how slow and wobbly I was with these farmers. Gotta work on stability, form and speed.

    Thanks. I have been busy, but not missing workouts. I miss TID, but have been absent due to taking care of my busy life.
