An athletic trainer who lives in Mill Valley was arrested Friday on allegations of having illegal steroids shipped to his residence from overseas, the sheriff's department reported.

Matthew David Goetz, 27, was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale. He was also booked on suspicion of child endangerment after investigators found packaged steroids and needles in the bedroom of his two children, said sheriff's Sgt. Fred Marziano of the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force.

Goetz's bail was set at $10,000.

The investigation began several weeks ago when federal authorities discovered that suspicious packages were being transported to Goetz's residence in Strawberry. The county task force determined that "several thousand" doses of steroids in numerous varieties were shipped there from Thailand and possibly elsewhere, Marziano said.

The items were sent to Goetz under his own name, Marziano said.

Investigators found packaging materials at Goetz's home suggesting the steroids were being sold. Goetz is a personal trainer at an undisclosed gym in San Francisco.

An initial court appearance could be held Monday if Goetz does not post bail during the weekend.

It is become more and more obvious the Feds are going after more and more small time people , so many large source out there and when was the last one that got pegged? But how many stories like this do we hear about now, seems like some poor pud is getting busted left and right for nickel and dime sized purchases.
Sad to see that its become the end user that the Feds are more interested in...

The Feds are going after the small time users because they haven't been able to pinch the suppliers, so they'll pressure the fellow to name his source in exchange for a lenient sentence.

On the other side of the coin, some suppliers will rat on their customers if the customer got suspicious

And as a side note it's stupid stupid stupid to use your real name for making these kind of purchases anyway

ORD caught a bunch of good bros. Now LE is going after the end users, even though most have a very small amount. Seems to me they should be spending their time looking for and busting meth labs.
