Has anyone experienced complicated/complex migraines or migraines w/aura?

I have had 3-4 episodes which include aphasia. They have occurred approx 4 yrs apart.

This last time it occurred and my daughter called me while I was experiencing aphasia.

This presents somewhat like a stroke. My wife ended up taking me to the ER and I had a full work up of tests but by this time the bulk of symptoms were gone.

In the past I have just rode the symptoms out until they passed but now, I am a bit concerned about cumulative effects.

I can't get into the nuero until Oct.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Disabled vet of a certain % for migraines especially with aura… lights twinkling…like ive been on mike Tyson’s punch out , peripheral vision is shot and i have the tunnel vision

i have to hide under the covers for half a day and it needs to be completely dark as shit… then i take migraine meds…sumatriptan… its not great for ur brain and causes me to be half retarded the entire next day after taking it

over all i miss a lot of days a year due to migraines…

xanax also helps to take 30-45 min prior to driving if its happening…. Then i sit there for that long in the a/c of my car until i can start to see straight… then by the time i get home i get the shits and im done for

they ran the whole gamut on me, weird helmet thing attached to my skull with sand paper type materials and super sun bright flashing light into one eye… to see if my brain was freakin out…

they cant explain them… but didnt start until i was in the service and had a few days where i couldnt see to get my uniform on

I detailed one in my log a few days ago. Felt nauseous then the auras came on I hit it with 1600mg Motrin and a Baclofen dark room cool rag, I get them periodically probably 8-10 a year depending. I believe mine start in my crushed T spine vertebrae the muscles up my spine get stiff then the levators and into my neck eyes etc. Some time dry heaves they suck but I never took them for a stroke but who knows. Always feel hung over the following time whether it snaps out that evening or the next day.

The part that startled my daughter and wife which also led them to consider stroke was the aphasia. I was unable to get thoughts into speech and what was coming out was gibberish. Apparently that is a symptom for some who get migraines w/aura.

I guess I will see what the neurologist says when my appointment finally gets here in Oct.

Understanding what is happening and having something to help or a plan of action will go a long way.

It sounds like both of you here have more to deal with than I currently do. I'm sorry to read that and I hope you gain relief going forward.
