Been using Verizion Messaging plus on my phone for years and they are shutting it down in 2 weeks, told everyone to move to Google Messenger which I am not a fan of.

What messaging apps you all using on Android that you actually like.

Doesn't need to be secure, the world has already seen pics of my balls...

Even consider Telegram? Although it's not encrypted, the ease of use is good.

I use Telegram to communicate with close friends. For certain communication I send the Telegram messages PGP encrypted.

Is the benefit of a messaging app over a text message that the sender doesn't know your phone number?

I use Whatsapp a little too. It is end to end encrypted.

I use this to talk to my Russian friends. Haha.. They all love their security.

It's text messaging, just not on Apple.
Been with Verizon a long while and have always just used the messaging app that came with my Samsung and it happened to be Messenger plus

Signal is good. I use it.

End-to-end encryption
Signal uses end-to-end encryption to keep messages and calls private and secure. This means that only the intended recipients can read or hear the messages, and not even the service provider can access them.

No sensitive information collection
Signal is designed to never collect or store any sensitive information.

Safety numbers
You can use safety numbers to confirm that the server is working correctly and that you are communicating with the right person.

PIN protection
You can protect your account with a PIN to prevent your number from being re-registered from a different device.

Signal is a free messenger app with no ads, trackers, or affiliate marketers. It offers a variety of features, including:
Free sharing of text, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files
Voice and video calls with no long-distance charges
Encrypted stickers for your conversations
Group chats

I have heard of Signal but never used it. Any idea how an app like this monetizes itself if it has no ads and doesn’t track?
It sounds like the perfect messenger app however just wondering how it stays secure and running without any direct source of revenue.

I use WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram (with my daughter in Russia) and sometimes TeleGuard for various purposes. But since I use an iPhone the majority of ordinary communications are plain old iMessage.
