I hear this a lot, and I'll be curious to see how this plays out. I still don't see how the Supreme Court went against the will of the majority of the people. The court simply said this issue goes back to the states where it belongs.Abortion is a massive issue to the Dems and most independents. Americans in poll after poll overwhelmingly support Roe vs Wade. The Supreme Court seriously fucked the Republicans by going against the will of the majority of the American people.
If the majority of the American people don't want abortion banned, but instead want various limits on it, then each of the states will end up with laws that reflect the will of the voters in that state. How can a law in Maryland passed by the Maryland legislature be against the majority of the voters in Maryland?
All the polling I've seen seems to be: (1) abortion should not be banned in all circumstances, (2) abortion should be regulated, and (3) the substance of the regulations differ from state to state.
It's my hope that with this issue going back to the states, we can cool off a little bit on this being a federal issue. Yeah federalism!
