This isn't political don't make it that way. Thanks.

Tim Walz and his wife have two kids , Hope and Gus.

Gus is 17, has a nonverbal learning disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Walz has spoken about the importance of not trying to change him, but to help him enjoy his life.

At 8 minutes , a nonverbal special needs kid , in front of the entire world ,, stood up crying his eyes out and shouted .. THATS MY DAD THATS MY DAD !!!

It was one of the most beautiful things God has ever let me witness.

I am so happy for Tim and his Wife Gwen not for the DNC ,, not for being picked for VP and all that goes with it .. but for being able to hear and see their son cheer on his Dad.

God is good.

A few folks with special needs in our family. My son has Aspergers , high fuctioning autism. I'll always have a place put aside for those folks that are special or unique in some way or another.

Looking like I do I used to be quite a hit at the Special Olympics lol you'd of thought I actually was some one :D

I think everyone should have the opportunity to get to know one or more people with special needs. I've learned so much, and I see them completely differently.

The young people and adults that are modestly high function are great employees for jobs that don't require too much extra cognitive ability. We have many with Down's that help bagging groceries and taking them out to the car for people. They do it with such a great attitude and joy, that it's often a highlight of my day. Everyone can make their own contribution, and I'm glad some businesses take the time and effort to provide special needs people with such opportunities.

My grandmother helped start a place called the Opportunity Center in Jersey years n years ago with some other special needs parents. My aunt was also very unique and wonderful. Their entire purpose is to integrate special needs folks into the community , get them out of their homes into a place they could make friends , find other folks with the same interests. They find them jobs , build them up and help show every one how amazing they are as well as help them develop a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Tommy, I actually was special ed certified when I was a high school football coach. I was specialized in dealing with kids with Aspergers as well as emotional disorders. Challenging to say the least. I did encourage many of them to go into hands on fields fields of technology. We had a small motor repair shop that many of them did well in. Hell I took all of my lawn tools there to be serviced.
