Guys will take almost any supplement if they think it will increase sexual performance. Foods purposed to make you a lion in the bedroom include asparagus, chocolate, gingko biloba, ginseng, oysters, Spani sh fly and Tribulus Terrestris.
Maca, a plant grown in a remote area of Peru, is the latest sexual supplement that promises to put lead in your pencil.
Self reported effects of Maca on sexual performance suggested that it increased sexual desire, the capacity to have sex frequently and semen volume.
A study from the Urology Department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, found that Maca had no effect on sexual behavior in rats. On a positive note, Maca did not increase anxiety in the animals.
Maca is a prominent ingredient in "sex pills" for men. Save your money and go for a run instead. Exercise is one of the best ways to make you perform like a sexual Olympian. (Journal Sexual Medicine, 4:332-340, 2007)
