lighting for taking pics

What is the best lighting to take pics in? outside sun? overhead lights? lights overhead behind you? in front of you? wut wut?

I always liked out side, sunny day get the right angle and natural lighting like that, especially if you have a tan.

i am so anal AJ....sun to my front or my back or wait till its direct overhead lol? i have to take pics once a week for my trainer and am going to have my wife do it outside. keeping a journal so i want the best pics possible.

I like about 4-5 pm during the late spring summer months...its like the perfect angle that time of day/year.

Just be consistent with the settling/lighting or incremental progress won'y be detected... because as you said, lighting makes a world of difference.
