I had a knee replacement Jan 30 2024.Since then I have had 11 surgeries with multiple infections. The surgeon is one of the better in the area.He is the head physician for KC Royals.I even had an old root canal tooth pulled that bothered me in hopes it was the cause.8 months ago I quit trt.Right now I healing from surgery 10-29.Every thing seems ok so far.Just wondering if trt may have caused it some how.

I can't imagine how there could be a mechanism that trt would be giving you infections unless you're not using sterile syringes, alcohol swabs or using dirty gear.

Did they say what kind of infection you had? I'd imagine they would culture it especially given the recurrence. What does your doctor think?

I swear I hear so many horror stories from people I know who have had hip or knee replacements. If I ever get told I need one I am going to be scared shitless.

Are you diabetic or insulin resistant from HGH? That’s the usual culprit (and smokers)

I would never stop HRT for any surgery. It will slow recovery and has no negative effects on infection risk, etc. Decades ago John Lombardo was Browns team doc at the Cleveland Clinic, ended up NFL drug czar, etc. Anyway he told me, back in the day before drug testing, if the guys were on anything and needed surgery for injuries and for some reason couldn't get their gear, they would put them on testosterone bc they found recovery was slower without it. My ortho who is a former BB advocates GH, TRT and a little VAR for recovery from shoulder/knee surgeries etc. Also big on BP-157 and tesamorelin.

We have a number of guys/gals at the gym that have had great results with hip, knee and shoulder replacements. The outcome depends on the surgeon, the OR, the post OP, and you, and then there is the "shit happens" factor (infection, DVT, etc.) that no one sees coming, but you can do your best to mitigate it.

Ive had both hips replaced and have some hardware in my shoulder and have never had any kind of infection. Ive been shooting in my hip area using an insulin pin. I think people are just more prone to inf. than others. From what I understand, an inf. in the hardware is serious as the area needs to be opened up and the hardware has to be removed and left as is until the inf. has healed.
