During the 2011 Olympia there was speculation about four time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler’s swollen, discolored left biceps. But, in an interview between Hany Rambod (Cutler's trainer) and Dennis James for Flex, Ramod said "Jay basically tore his upper biceps two weeks ago...It's a tear," and the rumor continued that Cutler may need surgery.

Months later, photos of Cutler eating with surgical bandages and ice packs on on his left shoulder/arm are on Facebook. He wrote on his*Facebook fan page,

"Back home from surgery, everything went great first thing on the agenda is food!

Although Cutler's injury was not described as a biceps tendon tear; if it was, it can take quite a while to recover. However, it can return to nearly normal. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons*explains that after surgery, “Your doctor will soon start you on therapeutic exercises. Flexibility exercises will improve range of motion in your shoulder. Exercises to strengthen your shoulder will gradually be added to your rehabilitation plan…Successful surgery can correct muscle deformity and return your arm's strength and function to nearly normal.”
