Good heavens. Just one year after Bud Light tanked itself over its ridiculous marketing campaign with a dude in a dress wearing woman-face, Jaguar says "hold my beer."

Here it is. This is NOT an SNL parody:

Here is the Jaguar brand manager for this disaster: Santino Pietrosanti. Not surprising, he's an American who lives with his hubby in Scotland with their cockapoo named Mia. You can't make this crap up.

Amazing. Take a brand worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and light it on fire.

Hmm, interesting choice. Will it matter for a high end car company? Not so sure. Beer yes, a product consumed by blue collar America. Somehow I doubt it will hurt Jaguar the same way.

My guess is it is not helpful or harmful. I cannot understand why they would want this though.

The market competition for automobiles is fierce. You need to tell your customers what they're going to buy. If it's a high end vehicle, they customer needs to know the high end features, and the type of status that it will convey. Not sure what status they're trying to convey here. Looks like the opening ceremony for the Olympics. A bunch of haute couture BS

Agreed on these points.

Consider the typical Jaguar buyer though. They fit the 'new' Democrat mold pretty well. The Democrats are increasingly the party of wealthier upper middle class to rich elites. Look at the exit polls from 2024. These people are socially liberal. Even so, I think this commercial will probably be ignored by them.

The concept of domestic beer is attached to rugged blue collar America, the concept and reality of owning a Jaguar is available to a very small percentage of elites. Just my intuition. Why Jaguar would waste their money on this commercial is beyond me.

Most of the car community in general is reacting with a giant WTF when they saw this. Musk response was the funniest. "do you sell cars".

I don’t see this ad having near the impact the Bud Light ad had. In all honesty I’ll never own a juguar so I really don’t have a dog in this fight. I think the bud light ad just hit home with such a bigger audience & that’s why it crippled them.

I saw that, all those weirdos and not one glimpse of a car.

Is it that hard?

I had a Range Rover Evoque for a brief time and it turned out to be a piece of junk. At that time, I did a little research and found Land Rover & Jaguar are owned by Tata Motors, an Indian multinational. Shit cars with gorgeous chassis...the brand killed itself way before these silly commercials.
