Guys I have hurt the ever loving shit out of my back. Not sure how, but my guess would be Jiu-Jitsu. Right under my right shoulder blade hurts so bad I can't sleep and can hardly move around. I can't seem to get away from the pain and the only position that takes it from a 6-7 to maybe a 4 is grabbing my head with my right hand and just holding it there. I've tried ice, heat, ben gay, pain patches etc. I'm eating Tylenol and ibuprofen and nothing is taking the edge off. Any suggestions appreciated.

Almost sounds like a rib. What if you tightly wrapped the area to minimize movement. Any better or still miserable?

Above or below scap?
Yeah this.

I have had something similar happen as well in BJJ under the top of the scapula and it runs up into the neck. This is a pull but I have never had debilitating pain. Very well could be an impingement of a nerve. Muscle relaxers and NSAIDS. Also what helps me, Ice it then get into an epsom salt bath as hot as I can stand it and soak. The epsom salt and heat helps relax muscles. Coming straight from a good icing it increases blood flow to the effected area and gives me some relief.

Good luck bro. Sounds SUCKY!

Tried that, still miserable. Last night I took two Tylenol, 3 ibuprofen and a melatonin and just could not get it to go down enough to sleep. I ended up taking a Percocet around 2 am and got about one hour of sleep.

As jipped said its right at the top of the scapula and it runs up into the neck.
Ok, I have also had this befor. Once it was unbelievably painful. I thought I had a serious injury and went to the ortho. His advice was similar to jipped.

Could be you strained the supraspinatus. This advice should help, if not go see an ortho https://www.theironden.com/forum/threads/injured-or-just-a-pull.45963/post-612689

Yes that's it exactly. I have a pinched nerve in my neck. And when it gets bad it's bad. I use a theragun and theracane on it and foam roll.

Update:

Went to the chiropractor today. He ran a couple tests and immediately sent me the urgent care. After tests for hours, Apparently I have a C-6 injury. From what they have told me and what I've read it 's pretty involved. Dr. said he was going to line up a visit for an MRI and something else, can't remember so they can see the extent of it all. They gave me 3 shots in the ass and sent me home with a script for pain killers, and a steroid. I have to go back Thursday. Preliminary tests show some verve damage. Not sure of the extent yet.
